Chapter 10 Elinor Treize
Chapter 10: Elinor Treize
The resentment in the sword seemed heavy. Bai Li’s eyes gradually lost focus, and his withdrawn hand unconsciously moved toward the sword hilt again.
Seeing his condition, Vivian quickly pulled him away and resealed the holy sword.
“Now do you feel it?”
Bai Li shook his head. Just now, he had unconsciously reached out his hand again. If he had drawn the sword, even under the weapon’s control, he could have escaped from here without any problem.
Perhaps out of some guilt for the past, he didn’t respond to his companion’s call and chose to turn away instead.
Vivian sighed in relief. She had brought Bai Li here to verify something, and now she had her answer.
“It’s as I thought. This sword’s forge material indeed incorporated a fallen angel’s soul.”
He could have easily grabbed Frost Moon just now. Even if the weapon took control, he could have cut Vivian to pieces. But for some reason, Bai Li couldn’t bring himself to do it.
He watched as his companion was sealed away, the cold light flowing across it gradually disappearing, leaving his heart feeling empty.
…
“Why is it like this? I don’t know either.”
Back at the castle, he lay on the bed staring at the ceiling, bored.
“If I were to escape, how could I face people looking like this?” He mocked himself, thinking that apart from fighting and designing his guns and cannons, he was useless at everything else.
“I wonder how Lan and the others are doing. Sigh.”
Bai Li got up, put on his shoes in a daze. Having just used his powers, he was already depleting energy rapidly. Hunger drove him to go find something to eat. Those rock-hard bread loaves from earlier were inedible.
In the past, Lan would have already prepared food and brought it to his office. It seemed his social skills had also deteriorated considerably.
He usually only chatted with Lan, the maid. He didn’t want to see anyone else without good reason. If he needed information, he would close his eyes and extend his “Mind Web,” which communicated faster than anything else.
With no other choice, he had to find food himself. His vampiric transformation wasn’t complete yet, so physiologically, food could temporarily substitute for blood.
Better to delay the inevitable as long as possible, he thought.
Just as he opened the door, he collided with a small maid, and the tray in her hands fell with a clatter, spilling food everywhere.
“I-I’m sorry, it’s all my fault for being so clumsy. Please forgive me, Your Highness.”
The maid’s apron was covered in soup, and the floor was a mess. She crouched down and took out a cloth from her bag, frantically wiping at the spill.
Bai Li stood there watching her bustle about, not knowing what to say. However, he could tell that using a dry cloth to wipe away oil was pointless.
“Stop, stop, stop. Let me help you clean up.”
Hearing this, the little maid froze even more, afraid of angering Bai Li. She wore her hair in twin tails and a black and white maid uniform, now half-kneeling on the floor, unsure what to do.
“Get up, this looks terrible.”
Bai Li walked over and pulled her up. To the little maid’s surprise, he took the cloth from the floor and started doing the same thing…
Only to make the floor even dirtier, with half the bedroom now covered in grease.
…
Bai Li’s expression changed from calm to anxious, and finally to embarrassment.
In moments, a thin layer of ice crystals appeared on the floor.
“Break!”
Immediately, a harsh “crack” sounded from the ground. Bai Li then manipulated the water flow, washing away all the frozen oil stains.
The little maid was stunned. She never expected the prince to clean up in such a dramatic way.
Bai Li only now realized someone else was present. Having used a series of techniques, he was already feeling weak. The limits of this body were evident, and he was unwilling to drink blood.
At this rate, he would eventually die.
“Your Highness, you… you are really amazing.” The little maid’s voice trembled, fearing Bai Li might freeze her into an ice sculpture next. Seeing the frost seemed to trigger some fear within her.
“What’s your name?” Bai Li asked, while noticing a necklace around her neck. “That’s a pretty necklace.”
“I… I’m Treize… Your Highness, it’s all my fault. I’ll go prepare a fresh meal right away.”
Treize turned to leave, but Bai Li called her back.
“Wait, I have something to ask you. Is your surname Elinor?”
“Yes, my full name is Elinor Treize. Lady Vivian sent me to help Your Highness with some daily matters…”
He was already at his limit but was putting on a brave face for Treize.
Bai Li’s face was pale. He seemed to recall something unpleasant, hastily dismissed Treize, locked the door, and lost his appetite.
“Elinor? Isn’t that the prince from Saint Lun City?”
Great, first they beat the old one, now they send the little one, Bai Li thought, growing increasingly annoyed. What kind of coronation ceremony gives you the defeated enemy’s sword?
(Though the sword was indeed good, the sword spirit inside had died, and the sword had no attributes.)
And now they send this little maid, probably her daughter, to attend to his daily needs?
“No, I still need her to take care of me? Temple Knight Bai Li, what dream are you living in?”
Considering he really didn’t know how to do anything, he had no choice but to learn some basic life skills.
Now exhausted and hungry, he just wanted to sleep well. Physiological challenges were indeed difficult to overcome.
…
“Vivian, what should we do with those chunks of iron?”
Wensa pointed at the three giant cannons captured from Fort Liège. The vampires had no use for them.
The elders of Rose Hall all suggested melting them down for iron essence, but Vivian had overruled them, and the cannons were preserved.
But she couldn’t hold off the elders for long. If they couldn’t find a good use within a week, the cannons would indeed be melted down.
Vivian sat on a fortress cannon, resting her chin on her hands and pouting, looking quite upset.
“Come on, stop pretending. Those old fossils bother me every day about this. You’re the captain of the guard—come up with a way to shut them up. I’m sick of them nagging about this problem.”
“I know, I know…”
Wensa held his head in resignation, truly hoping Vivian wasn’t just brushing him off this time.
Vivian fed him some more excuses and somehow managed to send Wensa away. Only then did she start mumbling to herself.
“What a pain. The solution lies with the one who created the problem. No choice, Sir Knight Commander, I’m counting on you.” Vivian muttered, “I wonder how Treize is getting along with him. I should go check.”
