Chapter 32: Want to Die?
Gu Qing finally got a new hundred points. He was able to have Uncle Qin make him a Negroni first. The missing front tooth made his gums sting when the alcohol hit them, but soon after, Ji Yueling came back.
She had changed into a light purple backless dress. The irregularly cut hem revealed some of the fair skin of her right thigh, and she wore apricot-colored open-toe strappy high heels. Even her hair was slightly styled. In an instant, she transformed from a sporty girl into a cold and proud goddess who outshone everyone.
The dress didn’t expose any cleavage, only revealing her delicate collarbones. Her shoulders were smooth and fair, looking sweet and soft. Gu Qing inexplicably wanted to take a bite.
“I’d think you came to attend a ball…” Gu Qing muttered.
“The group chat said the fighting club will hold a ball in half a month.” Ji Yueling suddenly looked into his eyes. “Do you want to dance with me?”
“What would happen if I refused?”
“I guess you wouldn’t want to watch me dance with other men.”
“You’re so certain you can guess my thoughts?”
“The more narcissistic someone is, the stronger their possessiveness, and the less they can tolerate others touching what’s theirs.” Ji Yueling’s eyes seemed to show a hint of playfulness, but in an instant, Gu Qing curled his lips, “Even if I don’t dance with you, you won’t dance with other men either.”
“Hm?”
“Because you’re an arrogant and cold woman. Your pride wouldn’t let you do something as stupid as dancing with other men just to disgust me. Besides, you hate demons.” Gu Qing chuckled, then looked at her expectantly, “My drinks, two glasses, thank you.”
Ji Yueling ordered two Sex on the Beach cocktails from Uncle Qin at the bar. Gu Qing sat at the bar obediently waiting.
He had come out because Li Si had an appointment with him. Li Si had found some clues about the shark demon’s appearance last time and happened to arrange to meet here, planning to have him buy two drinks. Now that Ji Yueling had arrived and he could drink two more glasses, that wasn’t bad either. It’s just that his front tooth was broken now, so he spoke with a lisp and looked a bit silly.
Customers gradually arrived at the bar, and it became lively again. Gu Qing began running to various tables to mooch drinks. His lisping manner made many people laugh continuously. When he returned to the bar counter, he looked at Ji Yueling resentfully and pointed at his front tooth.
Just as Ji Yueling was about to heal him, the entire bar suddenly fell quiet.
The instant silence startled them both, and everyone’s gaze turned toward the door. At that moment, the door was violently kicked open, and in that instant, everyone’s expressions became unfriendly.
The fighting club was their other home. Now that their door had been destroyed like this, anyone would look displeased.
Almost instantly, everyone at the drinking tables stood up.
Standing outside the door was a man wearing casual clothes. He looked young, about twenty-something, with a buzz cut and tall stature, wearing a black jacket. Facing the fierce and cruel gazes of the crowd, he just glanced around coolly and said, “I knocked for ages and no one answered, so I had to do this.”
The fighting club was members-only, with fingerprint locks at the entrance, and didn’t receive outside guests.
“If you want to die, just say so.”
Someone at the bar had already stood up, taking off their jacket, their eyes turning cold.
Li Si, sitting to the side, curled his lips and shrank his head, saying quietly, “There he is, that guy who ran out from the Great Wilderness.”
Instantly, Ji Yueling instinctively wanted to call the Alliance, but Li Si immediately spoke up, “This is demon business. Don’t complicate things.”
This was said to Ji Yueling. After hesitating for a moment, Ji Yueling put down her phone.
The man who entered was now scanning everyone with disdainful eyes, saying coolly, “I heard this place is called a fighting club?”
No one answered him.
“I heard about you all in the Great Wilderness—a bunch of guys hiding in the human world, playing house. What, have you stayed in the human world so long that you’ve forgotten demon rules?”
The man’s pupils suddenly changed color, from pitch black to deep blue.
Ji Yueling was slightly stunned.
Deep blue pupils, if not due to special abilities, meant that the man in front of them had royal bloodline among demons. In the demon world’s strict hierarchy, demons below royal bloodline couldn’t look directly into a royal’s eyes when meeting them.
“Those Alliance guys are too inefficient, too cautious, can’t draw anyone out… So I might as well come find you. Eating humans or eating you guys who don’t deserve to be called demons—it’s all the same.” The blue-eyed man slowly continued, “I’ve heard about your rules here too. Does anyone want to fight me? If you lose, offer up your crystal core.”
No one paid attention to him.
Fortunately, this self-talking blue-eyed demon didn’t seem embarrassed. Instead, he looked around, and when his gaze fell on Ji Yueling, surprise appeared in his eyes, “There’s even a human?”
That trace of surprise quickly turned into greed, “And she looks very tasty.”
“Is this your pet?” He pointed at Ji Yueling’s face and asked, “Let me have a taste?”
Still no one paid attention to him.
Ji Yueling’s body had already tensed up. The aura emanating from the blue-eyed demon made her body tremble slightly with unease. At this moment, someone finally broke the silence and responded to him.
Uncle Qin at the bar silently wiped his glass, still maintaining his unperturbed demeanor, just asking coolly, “What’s your name? Whose child are you?”
“Ma Asi.” Upon noticing Uncle Qin, Ma Asi was stunned for a moment.
“How did a child from the Ma family end up here?”
“The Great Wilderness has been chaotic recently. Most of what should have belonged to the Ma family was taken by that woman. Having no choice, I could only come here. I didn’t know before coming that Uncle Qin would also be here.”
“Since you know, get lost.” Uncle Qin put down the glass he was wiping and said coolly.
“Since this is Uncle Qin’s territory, it would indeed be inappropriate for me to cause trouble, but that woman… can I have a taste?” Ma Asi’s gaze pointed toward Ji Yueling.
But at that very instant.
Everyone in the fighting club suddenly laughed.
Uproarious laughter.
This scene was like an absurd movie where the characters suddenly broke script and burst into laughter. No one knew why they were laughing, and Ji Yueling didn’t understand either.
The laughter was mixed with teasing voices.
“Little Gu, did you hear? Someone wants to eat your woman.”
“Little Gu can tolerate this? Beat him up!”
“Little Gu, Little Gu, kill him and big sister will give you a flying kiss as reward.”
“Rare entertainment. Uncle Qin, open a good bottle to liven things up.”
Gu Qing’s eye twitched. He had originally just wanted to watch the show. With Uncle Qin here and all the club members present, nothing serious could happen. But now the fire had inexplicably spread to him.
“I keep saying she’s not my woman…” Gu Qing took a big gulp from his glass, then looked at Ma Asi standing below the bar and said, “The club has its rules. If you want my things, come fight me. Beat me, and she’s yours.”
“What if I lose?” Ma Asi asked with a mocking smile.
“Death.” Gu Qing grabbed an ice cube from his glass and put it in his mouth. If not for his current lisp, he thought this scene would be quite cool.
Ji Yueling raised her head. Her eyes still showed some bewildered confusion, but the bar was already filled with wave after wave of cheering. Clearly, this entertaining scene wasn’t common. Gu Qing had already taken off his sweater again, revealing his scar-covered torso, and whispered something in Ji Yueling’s ear. Ji Yueling slowly came to her senses and instinctively chose to follow his words.
Ma Asi had already walked close to Gu Qing and carefully examined him for a while. Now confusion appeared on his face first, “You’re human, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Then, do you want to die?” he asked in puzzlement.
“Who dies is hard to say.” Gu Qing just smiled. “Let’s go.”
Ma Asi stared at the power-sealing device in front of him, lost in thought.
Even Uncle Qin had followed them to the fighting hall and said coolly, “Seal your power and beat him, then you can leave safely.”
“What if I want to take this woman directly?”
Gu Qing beside him just smiled, “You can try.”
In an instant, all his friends around him, their pupils lit up with crimson light.
Even though Ma Asi was royalty, being surrounded and pressured by a group of S-level demons still weakened his arrogance considerably. He looked at everyone coldly, then slowly placed his hand on the device.
The device quickly sealed all his power, leaving only strength slightly greater than an average adult human. Gu Qing also placed his hand on it. Both their powers were sealed, and they walked onto the platform together.
Below the platform, Ji Yueling stood beside Uncle Qin, staring blankly at the stage. Everything had happened too quickly; she hadn’t had time to sort out the logical relationships.
Ji Yueling hesitated, then asked quietly, “Why did Ma Asi willingly seal his abilities and go up there?”
Uncle Qin was first stunned, then seemed somewhat amused, “Oh right, I forgot you can’t understand demon language.”
“What?”
“Just now when he asked Little Gu if he wanted to die, everyone had already spoken. In human terms, it means… today you either fight Little Gu to the death, or tonight your corpse gets dumped at the Alliance’s door. They’re usually bored to death, and they don’t want to miss this rare entertainment.”
“Children from the Ma family are used to being arrogant in the Great Wilderness. They thought they could be that arrogant everywhere.”
Only now did Ji Yueling understand, but new confusion arose, “But… aren’t you all Gu Qing’s friends? Why are you all so excited to see Gu Qing fight him? Aren’t you afraid that Gu Qing might…”
Uncle Qin just looked calmly at the stage, then smiled somewhat helplessly, “Little Gu won’t lose, of course.”
