Chapter 33: Want to Kiss?
The reason demons are demons is that even without energy in their bodies, their physical qualities, neural responses, dynamic vision, body control, and pain tolerance far exceed ordinary humans.
Ma Asi steadied himself and didn’t rush to throw a punch. Instead, he looked at Gu Qing in front of him. He tried hard to smell any different scent from Gu Qing, but his body’s instincts told him that standing in front of him was just a human—a weak, inherently frail human.
So he didn’t understand why the people in the club would protect this human, even willing to defy him, a demon royal.
The two slowly approached each other, nerves taut. Ma Asi threw the first punch, which solidly hit Gu Qing’s left cheek. Gu Qing vaguely heard the sound of bone cracking.
Damn, now he was more worried about his teeth. Fortunately, his teeth didn’t fall out. The next instant, he seized the opportunity and landed a beautiful uppercut on Ma Asi’s chin, making Ma Asi’s head ring. Seizing the opportunity, Gu Qing quickly began throwing punch after punch like a storm.
Cheers erupted from below the stage.
Ma Asi immediately hugged his hands to cover his face, but losing his balance, he was tackled to the ground. Fists the size of sandbags smashed into his forehead, making his face look like it was painted with colors, bloody and mangled.
His dynamic vision and neural responses were meaningless now because Gu Qing’s speed was too fast—so fast it didn’t seem like his power was sealed, but rather like he still retained some energy to enhance himself.
So this scene now looked like an adult beating up a kindergarten child. Ma Asi had absolutely no ability to fight back until his entire face was beaten purple and swollen. Only then did Gu Qing finally stand up, shake his hands, and scatter the blood on them to the ground.
Ji Yueling below slightly widened her eyes, “Did you guys cheat?”
This one-sided battle scene was really too absurd, so much so that Ji Yueling had to suspect whether that sealing device hadn’t actually sealed Gu Qing’s energy at all, allowing him to burst out with power and speed that clearly wasn’t that of an ordinary human in a short time. Uncle Qin thought about it, “Little Gu cheated, but we didn’t help him cheat.”
Ji Yueling didn’t understand what this meant, and Uncle Qin clearly had no intention of explaining to her.
On stage, in just one minute, Gu Qing had unilaterally beaten Ma Asi until he couldn’t stand up. All his energy was currently sealed by that strange alchemical device, and with his power alone, he couldn’t break through the alchemical formula’s blockade in that device.
But he was clearly a royal demon close to SS level. What exactly was that alchemical device? And who had created it?
“Little Gu wouldn’t cheat and would still win.” Uncle Qin thought about it and said, “Maybe because he doesn’t want to get involved with you, afraid that getting himself all beaten up would make you feel guilty and moved, so he chose a way that looked like an easier win.”
It seemed Uncle Qin understood Gu Qing well and easily guessed his thoughts clearly.
On stage, Ma Asi’s deep blue eyes now flickered with light, but instinctively showed fear. He knew that if this continued, he would die—die inexplicably and absurdly.
But this didn’t seem to matter much. A person walking down the street could also be killed by a suddenly falling flowerpot. The world had always been an absurd stage; no one knew if they would die the next second.
Fortunately, Gu Qing stopped at this moment. Instead, he looked toward Ji Yueling and reached out his hand to her. Ji Yueling, following Gu Qing’s earlier whispered instructions, took out the revolver loaded with one bullet and threw it to Gu Qing’s side, where he caught it steadily.
Looking at Ma Asi on the ground, he said softly, “You have one more chance to live.”
At this moment, his eyes were peaceful—neither cruel nor crazy, just calm, like deep pond water under moonlight.
The revolver was thrown beside Ma Asi. Ma Asi tremblingly reached out his hand, groped for the revolver, and looked into Gu Qing’s eyes. Gu Qing’s lips moved slightly, suddenly saying something in an instant.
This was demon language.
Ma Asi suddenly widened his eyes, and even his body began instinctively curling up into a ball, as if this was the safest posture. Fear made his whole body tremble. He slowly raised the gun, aimed it at his own lips, and pulled the trigger.
One-sixth probability—the gun didn’t fire.
Gu Qing crouched down, took the gun, and fired it at his own forehead.
Still didn’t fire.
He threw the gun back to Ma Asi. Ma Asi tremblingly aimed the gun at his own chin and fired again.
A boom echoed through the fighting hall as Ma Asi’s head exploded.
The area below fell silent. Gu Qing picked up the gun, looked down at the blood on his body, and sighed helplessly, “Which good brother can lend me a pair of pants?”
Ji Yueling suspected she was going crazy.
Ever since she’d known Gu Qing, many things around her seemed to become very crazy. She couldn’t imagine that a demon close to SS level—the guy who had recently made the Alliance so vigilant they implemented full martial law—had just died like this.
Death wasn’t scary, but his method of death was really too much like a farce.
Gu Qing had already finished showering and returned. He sat back at the bar counter but didn’t look at Ji Yueling, as if this matter had nothing to do with her at all. Instead, he grabbed another handful of nuts from Li Si’s plate, replenishing the energy he’d consumed.
It wasn’t until Ji Yueling reached out and poked his arm that Gu Qing turned his head. Ji Yueling’s hand produced silk threads and began healing his front tooth. His tooth quickly grew back, and only then did Gu Qing finally smile with relief.
“How did you… beat him?”
“Before the alchemical device activated, I had already used demon language to enhance my body. If my ability is pre-input, it happens to not be sealed by that alchemical device.” Gu Qing answered honestly.
“Then… why did you still play another round of Russian roulette with him?”
“So Uncle Qin could handle the aftermath conveniently. He can just say he wanted to join the fighting club, then played roulette and died. Otherwise, if the Great Wilderness investigates, it would be quite troublesome.”
“But didn’t you say before… that you couldn’t use your ability for three months?”
Gu Qing didn’t answer her directly. Instead, he picked up an almond and put it in her mouth. Ji Yueling was startled. After eating the almond, she suddenly felt her body’s energy increase a little. It wasn’t much, but if it were a whole plate, it would be equivalent to a D-level ability user’s entire energy reserve.
And Gu Qing had eaten quite a few just now.
“These nuts…?”
“They’re grown using demon corpses as fertilizer.” Gu Qing answered.
Ji Yueling suddenly felt nauseous.
“Hey hey, these are benefits that the club’s predecessors left for later generations. They gave their energy crystal cores to the fighting club, and the club used those cores to create alchemical matrices and grow these fruits and nuts. Don’t look so disgusted—those predecessors’ spirits in heaven would be very hurt.”
“Sorry…” Ji Yueling quickly adjusted her emotions.
“What about that power-sealing device? He had royal bloodline and near-SS level strength but couldn’t break free?”
But as soon as Ji Yueling finished asking, Gu Qing was already holding his head in frustration, then turned around and ignored her.
This clearly showed he found her annoying, like a book of “100,000 Whys.”
Ji Yueling fell silent and stopped asking.
Clearly, such a classic heroic rescue drama had just been performed at the bar, but before the beauty could say she was willing to serve the young master as a slave for life in gratitude, the hero had already walked away lightly.
This usually happened because the hero found the beauty wasn’t actually beautiful. Ji Yueling suddenly felt particularly defeated, then thought that since Gu Qing was mentally ill, she couldn’t generalize.
She could only continue drinking silently, but after a while, she heard Li Si’s shout, “Damn, don’t!”
She turned her head because of Li Si’s shout and realized that Gu Qing had suddenly leaned forward and vomited a large mouthful of blood. This blood landed right on Li Si, and his face had already turned pale as paper. He wiped his lips with the back of his hand but continued drinking as if nothing had happened.
Gu Qing waved his hand, “Clotted blood, clotted blood. I’ll be fine after spitting it out.”
“Who’s worried about you? My new shirt cost eight thousand! It can’t be washed! Watch yourself, Brother Gu.”
Li Si complained resentfully, then got up to change clothes in the shower room. The bar’s waitstaff quickly came to clean up the excess blood. Gu Qing took the handkerchief Uncle Qin handed him and covered his mouth. When he moved the handkerchief away, it was covered with a large bloodstain.
Just as Ji Yueling was about to say something, Gu Qing had already stood up and gone to sit on the sofa below the bar counter, “I’ve watched the show, now pay the admission fee.”
Fortunately, the people below didn’t care about his blood-spitting either. They just smiled and poured him drinks, muttering, “Little Gu, you’re done for. You’re going to be pursued by a woman again.”
