Chapter 33
Chapter 33: Fainted Three Times
What was the situation?
Xie Changqing and Hairile looked at each other, quickly finished pulling up the wooden stakes on the ground, and then went over.
This area had all been cleared by Qiaoba, so it was safe to ride horses.
When they got there, Xie Changqing and the others were surprised to find a very large pit here.
In the pit were a dead horse… and a person.
“I brought rope.” Qiaoba efficiently took the rope from his saddle and said decisively: “Looking at the snow on this person, he’s probably been injured all afternoon.”
He had called so loudly, but the person showed no reaction – who knew if he was dead or alive.
In any case, no matter what, they had to get the person up first.
“Such a big pit – what was he trying to catch?” Xie Changqing was puzzled and said strangely: “Are there wild boars in this area?”
Qiaoba was stunned and frowned: “There really are.”
He looked around and understood: “Last year or the year before, someone caught a wild boar piglet around here…”
It seemed this person had specially set this ambush to catch wild boars.
He just hadn’t expected the snow to come so early this year – instead of catching wild boars, he caught people.
Qiaoba sighed and cursed a few more times: “…Never mind, let’s get the person up first.”
He was still figuring out how to get the rope around the person when Hairile took the rope and with one throw, got it right on target.
“Let’s do it together…” Before Xie Changqing could finish speaking, Hairile was already pulling hard backward!
With a “thud,” the person was yanked up like pulling up a turnip and thrown onto the ground: “Ow!” Then he fainted.
Qiaoba almost choked on his breath, both amused and annoyed: “Hairile, you brainless fool – if he wasn’t dead before, you would have killed him with that throw!”
“…Ah.” Hairile held the rope, looking a bit confused: “But pulling together would also just pull him up…”
But at least it would be gentler.
Xie Changqing really opened his eyes today. When Nomin had said Hairile was strong before, he hadn’t had much of a concept.
Now he truly understood.
This strength really wasn’t ordinary…
But it was actually good – this really saved time.
“Let me check first…”
Since the person was already unconscious and the weather was so cold, even if there were injuries, the blood would clot quickly. He had to be careful to determine where the injuries were.
Qiaoba just glanced over and walked away: “Tsk, with all that blood on his face, he probably won’t survive.”
While Xie Changqing was still examining, Hairile had already gotten a rope around the horse.
“Ha!” He pulled hard.
Qiaoba couldn’t stand watching and went over to help pull together.
Surprisingly, Xie Changqing found that this person only had a broken leg bone and a gash on his head from hitting the pit wall, which bled quite a bit, but no other injuries.
He first cleaned the wound. Without hot water, he couldn’t clean it properly, so he could only temporarily disinfect it and set his injured leg.
As for the rest, he’d have to take him back to treat it.
“Hey! Put in some effort! Ha!”
Over there, Qiaoba was shouting while Hairile gritted his teeth and actually managed to drag the horse up too.
However, once they pulled it up, they knew the horse had been dead for a while.
It had six holes poked in its underside and a broken leg – all its blood had drained out.
“Sigh, what a pity.” Qiaoba was sweating and shook his head, looking toward Xie Changqing: “How is it? Can this person survive?”
Xie Changqing made an acknowledging sound and packed up his things: “The problem isn’t serious. He mainly fainted and then got cold.”
Fortunately, he was wearing quite thick clothes and hadn’t suffered hypothermia yet.
But even so, if he continued to freeze, he would probably die.
“Alright, let’s go back then. No matter what, let’s get the person back first.”
As for the horse, they tied three ropes to it and dragged it behind.
Three horses pulling one – that was manageable.
The injured person was carried by Qiaoba. After they had ridden out for a stretch and looked back, the distance showed white expanses everywhere.
Snow was falling from the sky again, and the commotion they had just made would soon be covered over again.
“Let’s take him to Sangtu’s place.” Qiaoba said directly: “Haierte is also injured, and they have extra yurts.”
Putting two injured people in one place would be more convenient for care.
So they returned to Sangtu’s home again.
Seeing them come back, the people who had been waiting anxiously finally relaxed.
Nomin was even more indignant, rushing forward: “How could you be gone so long? I was worried sick.”
As she spoke, she saw the person tied behind Qiaoba and stared in shock: “Who is this?”
“Don’t know yet – his face is covered in blood, can’t tell what he looks like.” Qiaoba waved his hand and called Sangtu over: “Come give me a hand and help me get this person down.”
But there was no need at all – Hairile directly stepped forward, untied the ropes, and carried the person inside.
Xie Changqing quickly followed, instructing: “Careful with his leg…”
Before he finished speaking, Hairile had already put the person down next to Haierte.
He had actually tried to be gentle, but he was heavy-handed and only minded the person’s head, not his leg.
“Ow!” Having already suffered severe trauma, the person was jolted awake by the pain.
His face was covered in blood and he couldn’t open his eyes.
Fortunately, Sangtu’s wife had hot water ready: “Oh my, how did he get hurt so badly…”
Xie Changqing stepped forward and first used a wet towel to cover the blood marks to soften them, then let him wash his own face: “You have a head wound – I need to see where the injury is.”
“…Okay.”
Although the process was quite painful and made him grimace.
But after washing clean and opening his eyes, he immediately stared wide-eyed: “Qiaoba!?”
Qiaoba was also extremely surprised and came forward to punch his shoulder: “Hey! Suhe! So it’s you, kid! What happened to you? How did you fall into a pit?! I didn’t even recognize you with all that mess.”
Suhe was knocked backward by his punch, his head a bit dizzy: “Sigh, don’t mention it – I’m just incredibly unlucky…”
Seeing Xie Changqing’s confused expression, Nomin leaned her head over slightly: “From the Tenth Ranch.”
“Oh…” Xie Changqing was thoughtful.
Since they were all acquaintances, it wasn’t so complicated to explain.
“I really don’t know what happened – I was riding along and suddenly crashed down with a bang.”
The horse had been stabbed and was jumping around in pain. He had no choice but to hold tight to the reins to avoid being thrown off.
When he fell, his head hit something, and then he was tossed around by the horse. Between the pain and cold, he fainted.
While talking, Sangtu had already
