Chapter 10
Chapter 10: Old Man, Will My Ride Get Stolen?
Wednesday through Friday, Violetti didn’t come to class.
Similarly, Adelina didn’t appear at her academy either.
After the dungeon incident, following communication between both sides, the misunderstanding was resolved without impact.
But Filin could sense things wouldn’t just end there.
Especially with a certain young lady with an extremely competitive spirit after being inexplicably attacked by her rival.
Originally thinking Adelina having him confess publicly was his imagination, but now it seemed really possible.
“Ah… what should I do? Can a meteorite please fall and destroy Silver Moon Valley?”
Filin rolled around on his bed like an ostrich burying its head in sand.
It was Saturday now, and he still hadn’t gone to select formal wear, proving just how much Filin didn’t want to attend the banquet.
Originally Filin could have declined, but after the dungeon incident, he didn’t dare not go—he was afraid Adelina would turn her anger on him.
Plus, Adelina had given him ten thousand crowns!
Only fools don’t take money when offered.
Filin was somewhat resigned about Violetti—whatever she thought didn’t matter.
But the trouble was that Violetti didn’t know Filin was employed by her father. She’d think Filin truly liked her.
If Adelina and Violetti met face-to-face and started comparing notes, his reputation as a playboy would be confirmed.
Adelina would definitely think he was using her money to pursue Violetti.
The paper airplane carrying childhood trauma would hit her forehead again.
Plus this time Violetti attacked Adelina—the jackpot accumulated again!
What kind of Adelina would he face then? Filin didn’t even dare imagine!
“The day after tomorrow is Monday.”
Filin got up from bed, looking at the calendar on his desk.
“Speaking of which, Daisy returns Monday too.”
The young lady he’d seen off at the station last week would be back soon.
Just thinking about her malicious interests made Filin shudder.
That young lady was hard to deal with!
Fortunately, she wasn’t returning Sunday, or she might attend the banquet too.
At noon, Filin reluctantly left home.
He took out the ring Adelina had given him from his house, along with the formal wear Violetti had just given him, and went to his usual second-hand luxury goods store.
“Filin, got good stuff again?”
Store manager’s daughter Miss Naia had a very good relationship with him.
Partly because he could always provide second-hand items with minimal wear.
Partly because—not to brag—with this face and mouth, ordinary girls couldn’t resist.
He was a male model, kid!
“Yeah, a gift from my boss—this ring.”
Naia took the ring from Filin’s hand and examined it carefully under the light.
“Oh my god, isn’t this [Seraphina]’s latest Kalanseya gemstone ring? Their new product launch was less than a week ago and you already got one?”
Naia’s chestnut short hair curled slightly at the tips. She stared wide-eyed at the ring in her hand.
The rare crystal bracelet on her slender wrist that her father had acquired from elven merchants seemed so plain in comparison.
“Does your boss like girls? I could do it too!”
Brand new, no scratches, and authentic.
Given away just like that.
What kind of divine client was this?
“I work hard too, facing a middle-aged woman every day.”
Naia carefully placed the ring in a jewelry box, imagining that greasy woman with an unpleasant smell. Her body couldn’t help but shudder.
Filin always told others his clients were a group of middle-aged women.
Because this could earn some sympathy and let him sell things for higher prices.
“How much are you asking?”
“500,000 crowns.”
“The new one is only 550,000 crowns! This price is unacceptable!”
“Naia, do you know why I always come here to sell things?”
Filin paused, thinking for a moment.
“Eh? Why?”
“Because of you, of course.”
Naia froze in place, her heart starting to pound.
“Believers go to church for weekly worship, and I want to come here weekly. Others might not think so, but in my heart I’ve always regarded you as a goddess.”
Naia was stunned, eyes widening slightly, cheeks instantly tinged with pale pink.
Filin gently took Naia’s somewhat stiff hand, making the girl gasp softly.
“G-goddess? Come on, I’m no goddess…”
She murmured softly, her voice softer than usual with an imperceptible tremor. Her lips unconsciously curved upward, yet she tried to suppress it, afraid of appearing too obvious.
“Others look down on me when they know my profession. Only you look at me properly. Making everyone happy makes you everyone’s goddess, but making me alone happy makes you my personal goddess.”
He moved closer to Naia’s face, close enough to feel the girl’s rapid breathing.
“It’s not impossible… I’ll just consider it buying for myself…” Naia surrendered.
Filin wasn’t a scumbag deceiving an innocent girl.
He’d calculated that this limited ring sold out immediately upon release due to high popularity.
Even second-hand ones were in short supply, and the ring Filin brought was 99% new with virtually no wear marks.
Naia could definitely make a big profit from this ring.
“Hey! You brat! Coming to trick my daughter again!”
Just when Filin thought he’d succeeded, a burly man in blue and white stripes walked in.
“Filin! Take your hands off her!”
The man roared, his voice somewhat piercing.
How could his precious daughter be so easily defeated by this guy?
“Dad? I… I didn’t!”
Naia looked panicked, quickly removing the ring.
Filin smiled awkwardly, knowing he looked like a playboy right now.
If he said “Old man, my ride’s parked downstairs—it won’t get stolen, will it?” at this moment, Filin was sure his face would become a pig’s head.
“470,000, maximum!”
The owner took the ring, examined it twice, then glared fiercely at Filin.
“Dad! This…”
Naia tugged at the owner’s sleeve, biting her lip and looking worriedly at Filin.
Just give him the whole store! The manager roared internally.
Filin pretended to consider, then reluctantly agreed.
“For Miss Naia’s sake, I’ll practically give it away.”
Naia lowered her head again, using her hair to hide her eyes.
Seeing this, the owner wanted to throw Filin out immediately.
“I also have a haute couture suit, never worn once.”
Filin took out the clothes Violetti gave him and placed them on the counter.
“150,000 crowns, no negotiation.”
The manager could tell at a glance it was high-end merchandise, and indeed brand new.
“For Miss Naia’s sake, 130,000 crowns will do. But I want to pick a second-hand formal suit in exchange.”
The manager snorted and quickly transferred the money to Filin’s account,
