Chapter 12
Chapter 12: Change of Plans
Flin sat on the sofa and drained his wine glass in one gulp.
Adelina had sacrificed her cousin to buy herself free time.
Now he had no way to stall her anymore.
Although his first battle plan had failed, it didn’t matter – he still had a second battle plan.
Lady Adelina was a simple-minded young lady who became surprisingly easy to read whenever “Vilodie” was mentioned.
Flin just needed to use Vilodie to get information out of her in front of her, then he could learn her plans for tonight.
Then he just needed to counter them one by one.
Adelina walked up to the third floor with elegant steps, her gaze immediately locking onto that familiar figure.
Flin was particularly dazzling today.
The deep blue formal wear made his figure look tall and straight, with golden patterns subtly visible under the lights.
Adelina pressed her lips together, suppressing the ripples rising in her heart.
He was wearing the same deep blue as her.
Did he want to secretly wear matching couple’s outfits with her?
He loved her so much.
“Lady Adelina!”
Flin greeted Adelina. He stood in the corner of the balcony, looking completely happy.
“I feel like I haven’t seen Lady Adelina in so long. I’m really happy today.”
The corners of Adelina’s mouth curved up slightly as she blinked and looked Flin up and down.
“You weren’t hurt last time, were you?”
“No, thanks to Lady Adelina’s blessing, I just briefly lost consciousness and my body wasn’t harmed at all.”
Hearing this, Adelina’s gaze toward Flin became somewhat evasive.
Her guard had only rescued her.
Although Adelina herself hadn’t reacted before being rescued by her guard, the fact remained.
“Vilodie didn’t give you trouble, did she?”
“No.” Flin looked troubled, as if he had something difficult to say.
It seemed the two had spoken.
Adelina sat on the sofa and picked up the fruit tea brought by a maid, taking a large sip.
Officially, the Seraphiel family’s reason given to Adelina was that because of the [Concealment Seal] released by Adelina’s guard, Vilodie only saw a magical beast there and didn’t see any person, then “accidentally” used the wrong seal and released a seventh-tier seal.
Would any fool actually believe such a reason?
Vilodie’s guards weren’t just for show either.
Besides, was a seventh-tier seal something so casual?
Something that couldn’t be bought for ten million kronor, and she used it because of a first-tier magical beast?
Although she felt it wasn’t very reasonable, Adelina’s intuition told her that Vilodie was targeting Flin.
The reason was simple, of course.
Seeing Flin like her, Vilodie regretted it and got angry.
Things were already developing more satisfyingly than expected.
Not only had she stolen Vilodie’s loyal lapdog, she had also made Vilodie’s emotions fluctuate.
As long as she confirmed with Vilodie later, she’d know exactly what Vilodie was thinking.
“Lady Adelina, would you like me to massage your calves? You must be tired from standing so long tonight.” Flin knelt in front of Adelina and asked sincerely.
“Massage my calves? But…”
“I understand, Lady Adelina.”
Flin slowly stood up, biting his lip with a trace of self-consciousness.
“That’s not what I meant. Just massage them.”
Hehe.
He gently lifted her calf. Through the white lace stockings, he could see her ankle was slightly red from wearing high heels for so long.
Adelina looked down, her long eyelashes trembling slightly, hiding the panic in her heart.
Flin’s technique was very professional, but this distance still made Adelina’s heart race.
Good thing this was in a corner where other people wouldn’t see.
“Lady Adelina, you’re really beautiful tonight. Miss Vilodie will probably regret it when she sees you.”
“Eh? Why?”
Adelina’s heart jumped. Could Flin have discovered her plan too?
“Tonight’s spotlight will probably be stolen by Lady Adelina’s beauty.”
“You can’t say things like that.”
Adelina said this while feeling somewhat proud inside.
“I wonder what arrangements Lady Adelina has for me tonight?”
Flin said this casually without looking up.
“Of course it’s to have you kiss me in front of Vilodie…”
Adelina suddenly realized she almost let it slip and quickly covered her mouth with her hand.
Her face instantly turned red to her ears, and even her neck was tinged with pink.
That was close. She almost got tricked into revealing it.
“I’ll tell you when the time comes.”
No matter what, Adelina couldn’t voice her fantasies.
But if she didn’t say it out loud, should she write a note for Flin to read?
That would be even more embarrassing.
Adelina coughed lightly twice, her slender fingers nervously twisting her skirt hem.
“Listen carefully. A few days ago my friend gave me an idea, and I want to try it.”
Flin raised an eyebrow but didn’t show any displeasure on his face.
Adelina looked around and noticed a cake that had just been delivered on the table.
“Cake.”
She looked up and said only two words.
“Would Lady Adelina like to eat this cake?”
Flin picked up the cake from the table and came to Adelina’s side, quietly waiting for her instructions.
“Feed me.”
“Hm?”
Flin froze in place, wondering if he had misheard.
Usually in private, Adelina would never let Flin feed her, let alone now at a banquet.
“Feed me… the cake.”
Adelina felt her face burning up, but she still forced herself to stay calm.
She was just rehearsing with Flin first. Otherwise, how would he know how to perform in front of Vilodie later?
What a bargain for Flin!
Flin cut a small piece of cake with the silver fork.
“Lady Adelina, open your mouth.”
His voice was impossibly gentle.
Adelina opened her mouth slightly, her eyelashes still trembling lightly.
Flin carefully brought the cake to her lips, afraid of messing up her delicate makeup.
The cream melted in her mouth, but Adelina felt like she couldn’t taste anything.
All her attention was focused on Flin, who was very close to her.
Flin took out a napkin and gently wiped the cream from the corner of Adelina’s mouth.
“Lady Adelina, do you want me to feed you cake like this in front of Miss Vilodie later?”
Adelina’s heart skipped a beat. She sat stiffly in place, not expecting to be seen through by Flin so easily.
“As long as it’s Lady Adelina’s order, I’ll complete it. However, I’m starting to like Miss Vilodie a bit now.”
“Hm?” Adelina looked at Flin, confused.
“Because of Miss Vilodie, I have the chance to feed Lady Adelina.”
Looking at Adelina’s expression, Flin knew her brain was about to overheat.
Adelina was clearly an innocent young lady who was both inexperienced and loved to play games.
Now he could properly extract information from her.
Although there had been a small hiccup, things were generally going smoothly.
?
Vilodie’s expression was pretty much like a “?” right now.
She had asked the butler to place monitoring seals in all areas of the castle.
From the moment she stepped into the castle, Vilodie had seen Flin.
Now she watched the intimate pair in the image, her expression still very cold.
“Miss Vilodie, what are you looking for?”
While watching the image, Vilodie reached around in her bag.
“Where did my seventh-tier seal go?”
