Chapter 16
Chapter 16: It’s Good to Win Everything
Feilin clearly saw Adelina’s mouth twitch slightly, her face visibly reddening at an alarming rate.
“I-I-I-I like Feilin?”
Adelina couldn’t hold it together.
She turned back to look at Violetti, arms crossed over her chest, hurriedly denying it.
“Who likes Feilin? It’s just, just…”
Just that I’m keeping him, then having him whisper in my ear every day that he regrets choosing Violetti, that’s all.
But Adelina could never say such words aloud.
“Then you had him feed you cake.”
?!
Adelina swayed and leaned against the glass door.
“You saw that?”
“I saw it all through the surveillance spell.”
So she was spying too—who knew Violetti was that kind of person.
“Speaking of which, Miss Violetti, when you saw me with Feilin in the underground city, you angrily threw out a seventh-tier spell. You think I don’t know that was the real reason you attacked us?”
Adelina steadied herself and began her counterattack.
“Miss Violetti, don’t you have some strange feelings toward Feilin?”
Violetti cupped her chin with her hand.
“You mean I like Feilin?”
She rarely understood Adelina’s implications.
“Of course! Feeling heartbroken when you see someone you like with someone else, wanting to know what they’re doing all the time—isn’t that what liking someone means?”
“That’s also a way of expressing affection?”
“Yes!”
Violetti had an epiphany.
“I like Feilin.”
She said this to Feilin with a blank expression.
Such direct words left even Adelina stunned.
“Hey! Wait!”
Feilin felt that if he didn’t act now, Violetti would really become troublesome.
“Miss Violetti just feels somewhat guilty toward me! It’s not affection at all!”
This young lady who knew nothing about romance might really mistake her feelings for love and then cling to him.
“Feilin is right. I just feel somewhat guilty toward him.”
Violetti nodded and agreed.
Though Violetti still didn’t quite understand these emotions, whatever Feilin said was right.
“Huh? How did you change your mind so easily?”
Adelina put her hands on her hips and stared into Violetti’s eyes.
She felt like she was punching cotton.
“Anyway, Feilin and I aren’t that kind of relationship…” Adelina said, her voice suddenly getting much quieter. “If we’re talking about liking someone, it’s obviously him who likes me.”
Her voice was so quiet no one could hear.
“Then you two…” Violetti pressed.
“We’re just classmates!” Adelina was forced to say.
Without Feilin needing to say anything, under Violetti’s questioning, Adelina herself had actively explained her relationship with Feilin.
This was a huge help to Feilin.
If Feilin had said in front of Violetti that he and Adelina were just classmates, who knows what this young lady would think.
Just as Violetti was about to press further, a communication spell rang out.
[Violetti, where did you go? You need to hurry and greet the guests]
Violetti’s father was urging her.
“Sorry, I have to leave first.”
Violetti put away the spell and nodded to both of them.
Her gaze lingered on Feilin for a long time before she walked toward the door.
“Wait.”
Violetti turned back to find Adelina’s face flushed, her eyes holding no hostility.
“I’m glad to see you’ve pulled yourself together, Miss Violetti.”
The starlight became very gentle on Adelina’s figure, making people want to get close to her.
“Thank you.”
Adelina was a good person.
She could allow her brief contact with Feilin so she wouldn’t be so lonely.
After all, having a crush on someone was hard work.
What a pitiful young lady.
If Adelina knew what was going through Violetti’s little head, she’d probably faint on the spot.
After Violetti left, Adelina turned around, her cheeks slightly flushed.
“What’s with that expression? If Violetti really never came out again, who would I get my revenge on?”
Seeing Adelina like this, Feilin couldn’t help but smile.
“So, what were you just talking about with Violetti?”
The topic suddenly shifted, and the warm atmosphere vanished.
“Nothing much. I just told Violetti honestly that I no longer liked her because my heart can’t hold anyone else.”
Feilin wasn’t lying—he’d simply stated the facts.
Seeing Feilin’s sincere eyes, Adelina became even more convinced of his feelings.
Who would have thought Feilin would reject Violetti when she was throwing herself at him.
He really loves me so much!
“Let’s go out. We’ve been here too long.”
Adelina turned to leave but felt Feilin’s hand on her shoulder, making her gasp softly.
“Adelina, the ribbon on your back is messed up.”
Adelina bit her lip, feeling Feilin’s gentle fingertips on her back.
They were so close, like a husband caring for his wife.
Feilin saw the back of Adelina’s fair neck turn pink again.
He just wanted to use this opportunity to check if Adelina was still sulking.
But now it seemed she wasn’t angry at all.
This crisis had passed in a somehow inexplicable way, right?
Though he felt like he’d done nothing, it was still wonderful.
“Just one request.”
Adelina, facing away from him, suddenly spoke.
“What?”
Adelina’s ears were completely red, even her shoulders were trembling slightly, yet she forced herself to remain calm while saying this.
“I’ll grant you one request. You can ask for anything—just don’t be too excessive!”
She nervously gripped her skirt, her knuckles turning white.
Adelina kept reassuring herself that this was just rewarding an employee—perfectly normal.
“Really?”
Feilin placed his hands on Adelina’s shoulders and leaned close to her ear.
This action made the girl in his arms gasp softly.
Adelina’s world was filled with nothing but her heartbeat.
Just as she realized what was happening and was about to break free from Feilin’s hands, refusing such frivolous behavior, she heard what Feilin whispered in her ear.
“I hope Lady Adelina can let go of her obsession with winning and losing. Just like what I wrote on the poster I gave you that day—in my heart, you’re already number one in the world. You’re already amazing.”
Adelina stood there, her hands falling limply to her sides.
If you listened carefully, you could hear the sound of flowers blooming in the girl’s heart.
Such a request was too much of a foul play.
…
Crystal chandeliers cast dreamlike light from above, and beyond the huge floor-to-ceiling windows was the entire night view of Saiva.
Silver Moon Valley, top floor suite.
“Miss Dai, how is your father recently?”
The speaker was Lord Seraphiel, who had just been giving a speech on stage.
“Father is well, recently busy with Truth Sect affairs.”
Dai sat in a soft chair by the window, moonlight and crystal light interweaving on her body.
She wore a black high-collar dress that made her appear even more cold and ethereal.
Seraphiel loved to look into people’s eyes to judge their emotions.
But this time he somewhat dared not meet her gaze.
Those dark green eyes seemed to hold divine quality as they looked down on all living beings—infinitely rational and calm.
A hundred years ago, the Truth Sect invented spell seals.
Using spell seals, the Truth Sect became one of the world’s three major religions in just fifty years.
All spell seals in this world, whether offensive or functional, came from the Truth Sect.
After hundreds of years, no one knew how much wealth and resources the Truth Sect had accumulated.
Dai Aurion.
She was the daughter of a Truth Sect elder.
But supposedly she was an ‘exiled’ daughter.
However, Seraphiel felt that whether Dai was exiled or not, she was still from the Truth Sect, and he needed to maintain this relationship.
Dai gently placed her teacup on the table, her dark green eyes calm as water.
An imperceptible smile appeared at the corner of her mouth.
Feilin, I came back early.
