Chapter 17
Chapter 17: You Don’t Even Include Me in Your Harem
The banquet hall’s atmosphere reached its climax.
Sophia sat alone in a corner armchair, downing champagne glass after glass.
Her cheeks had taken on an unnatural flush, and her usually immaculate hair was somewhat disheveled.
Sophia saw Adelina come out looking like she’d been splashed with red paint, her movements somewhat uncoordinated.
“Youth, ah.”
Damn youth.
Sophia remembered when she was young, she too had been caught up in such scenes.
Sweet and bitter memories suddenly surged up in her heart.
When she was young, she had once gone crazy for love too.
But now, she’d long lost that kind of hysterical courage and energy to sacrifice everything for love, becoming a serious adult.
Sophia didn’t know what the three of them had talked about on the balcony.
But seeing Adelina come out looking overjoyed, she already had a good idea.
Damn, more sickly sweet romance.
Sophia’s experience as a homeroom teacher wasn’t for nothing—she could spot who was dating whom at a glance.
Though her thoughts were somewhat explosive, she was definitely right.
She never made mistakes about such things.
Who would have thought!
Adelina actually liked Violetti.
She was gay!
Seeing Violetti being pestered by Feilin, Adelina couldn’t help her restless heart and went to protect her beloved.
No wonder Adelina had shown that strange expression when she saw Feilin with Violetti.
Everything made sense now.
Sophia was actually open-minded about such relationships, but unfortunately, her original plan to have Adelina help Feilin get over Violetti’s shadow was now completely impossible.
“Today’s young people really know how to have fun.”
Just as she finished speaking, the banquet hall’s atmosphere suddenly changed subtly.
The crowd had unknowingly parted to form a path.
Sophia curiously looked up, her drunk eyes immediately brightening.
A young lady in a black high-collar dress was walking slowly forward.
The surging crowd naturally formed a vacuum around her.
Her black hair cascaded like a waterfall, swaying gently with her steps.
Those dark green eyes sparkled with a composure beyond her years, as if she were the main character of tonight’s castle, not the noisy banquet.
Her every gesture carried an elegant yet distant aura, completely at odds with this clamorous banquet.
Several young noble gentlemen were ready to make a move, wanting to strike up a conversation, but they retreated the moment they met those dark green eyes.
Sophia squinted—the aura this young lady naturally possessed indicated she definitely came from a super wealthy family.
If only Feilin were lucky enough to meet her.
But thinking about it, it seemed impossible.
“Really, getting older makes you want to play matchmaker for everyone.”
Sophia held her empty wine glass, her eyes slightly unfocused from drinking.
She didn’t notice that the dazzling figure was walking straight toward Feilin.
“Miss Dai?”
Feilin had just seen off Adelina when he turned around to find his wealthy client.
He suspected he was seeing things—shouldn’t she still be on the train at this time?
Dai Aurion.
Those dark green eyes seemed to see right through his body, directly into his soul.
Her expression was as indifferent as always, as if nothing in the world concerned her.
“I came back early.”
Her voice was pleasant but carried a chill.
“Lord Seraphiel invited me to attend the banquet, so I came tonight too.”
“You should have told me in advance,” Feilin quickly put on his professional smile in his panic. “I could have gone to the station to pick you up.”
“Really?” Dai raised an eyebrow, a playful smile appearing at the corner of her mouth. “But if I’d told you in advance, I wouldn’t have seen that wonderful show just now.”
Her gaze casually swept toward the balcony.
“Were you happy just now?”
“Just now? I was just admiring the scenery alone—nothing particularly happy or unhappy about that.”
Dai crossed her arms and stared at Feilin.
“In just a few days, your harem has gained two more members. Having me as a girlfriend still isn’t enough for you, it seems.”
Dai leaned closer and said in a low voice: “Are you hoping that in the future, you’ll have three beautiful girls constantly clinging to you and trying to please you for your attention?”
Feilin swallowed.
This damned body was actually having a slight fantasy and anticipation about that scenario.
But thinking about these three specifically, Feilin’s mind immediately cleared.
Spare me.
“Hmph, you just fantasized about that scenario, didn’t you?”
Dai lightly poked Feilin’s shoulder with her finger, looking satisfied.
“If that’s what Miss Dai requires, I’d have no choice but to agree. After all, Miss Dai can make me do anything…”
This retreat-as-advance tactic knocked Dai, who had seen victory within reach, back to square one.
She bit her lip, and hearing Feilin deliberately use such a sweet tone in her ear, her cheeks flushed slightly.
“Miss Dai, did things not go smoothly when you went home?”
The young lady’s shoulders trembled slightly, and that slender figure looked incredibly moving under the lights, making one instinctively want to protect her.
“Are you finally going to start conquering me now that you’re so concerned about me?”
“Not recently,” Feilin said softly. “I’ve had that thought since the moment I first saw Miss Dai.”
Regarding Dai, Feilin really didn’t know much.
On one hand, Dai had come from another country to familiarize herself with Saiva’s environment before entering the capital for school next year, so Feilin didn’t know her background.
On the other hand, Dai revealed very little about her family situation.
Feilin only knew her family was wealthy and powerful.
Dai and Feilin’s contract was also simple.
Act like intimate lovers in front of her parents, and Feilin had to admit his male escort identity to her parents.
A rebellious precious daughter accidentally brings home a playboy, then both parents get so angry they vomit blood—Feilin figured Dai probably wanted this kind of script.
Feilin had even specifically watched many romance dramas for this.
He was just waiting for some wealthy lady to say “There’s a hundred million here, leave my daughter.”
But unfortunately, since signing the contract, her family had never contacted her once.
The imaginary wealthy lady never appeared.
They seemed to have forgotten they had such a daughter.
So while Feilin and Dai’s contract stated they were “acting as lovers,” what Feilin actually did was more like a servant.
Going over three fixed days a week according to contract to clean, cook for Dai.
It looked easy, but this young lady who had no friends in Saiva loved to ship Feilin with his clients, often forcing him to reveal details about his customers.
Though Feilin tried his best to avoid revealing clients’ privacy, Dai could always deduce things from his subtle expressions and unconscious reactions.
Like how that pink-haired young lady would definitely pursue Feilin after their contract ended.
Like how that gentle student council president would be completely conquered by Feilin sooner or later.
Feilin thought she was talking nonsense.
How could these things happen? How could those young ladies look favorably upon a fallen noble?
Did she really think they were all idiots?
Last week Dai had received news from home saying she needed to return for a while.
Though Feilin didn’t know what happened during that time, he could roughly guess.
A child not cared for by parents suddenly being called back home—either there was an inheritance dispute or they wanted to use her.
Now it seemed to be the latter.
Dai set down her teacup and stepped closer, the scent of black tea lingering around Feilin’s nose.
“I’ve changed my mind this time.”
She lightly tucked her hair behind her ear, then used a handkerchief to dab at her lips still moist with water.
“During the contract period, we need to act like a real couple.”
Dai’s fingers gripped the handkerchief tightly.
“We’ve always been a real couple.” Feilin was somewhat confused.
“You mean coming over three days a week to sweep, mop, and cook? That’s what a maid should do.”
Dai looked up at the young man before her.
“Even when my parents aren’t around, we need to act like a real couple. Eating together, doing things together, sleeping togeth—”
Dai suddenly realized what outrageous thing she’d said, her cheeks turning pink.
