Chapter 18
Chapter 18: Live with Me, Teacher!
Dai had been chosen by the gods since childhood to become a candidate for the Truth Sect’s Divine Child.
The so-called Divine Child was the god’s representative in the mortal world.
All believers of the Truth Sect needed to follow the Divine Child’s instructions.
Dai was excellent—she had crushed almost all other candidates of her generation.
But through extensive study and reading, Dai’s doubts grew.
She suspected the gods didn’t exist.
Or rather, the gods were like tools, continuously mass-produced by the Truth Sect through some method to create spell seals.
Dai knew her thoughts were already blasphemous.
She only told her teacher, who had raised her since childhood, hoping to find answers.
Unfortunately, her teacher couldn’t tolerate such thoughts, considered her a heretic, and told her father and other elders.
Dai was therefore stripped of her Divine Child candidacy.
Dai’s father had hoped that after she became Divine Child, their family would be the foremost in the Truth Sect.
But the dream was shattered.
In his rage, Dai’s father no longer acknowledged her as his daughter.
Using blasphemy as grounds, he sent Dai alone to Saiva to reflect.
Almost overnight, everyone close to Dai changed their attitude.
From the day she left the Truth Sect, Dai rarely made contact with people.
Because those who got close to her became unfortunate.
Her thoughts were what they feared.
Hiring Feilin had been a momentary impulse.
After calming down, she felt hiring Feilin was incredibly childish.
Dai had originally planned not to renew the contract after it ended, but after spending time together, she’d grown used to having Feilin handle everything for her.
Perhaps Dai herself hadn’t realized that regardless of her status, she was still an eighteen-year-old girl who enjoyed romantic stories.
Last week when Dai left Saiva to return to the Truth Sect was also her father’s instruction.
Because the previous Divine Child had died of illness shortly after being elected.
Her father saw the possibility of Dai’s re-election.
As long as Dai focused on preparing to become Divine Child, her father said he could let bygones be bygones and let her return.
In her father’s eyes, Dai could only see lust for power. She refused.
She was expelled again.
…
Silver Moon Valley.
The banquet had reached its climax.
“Even when my parents aren’t around, we need to act like a real couple. Eating together, doing things together, sleeping togeth—”
Dai realized she’d accidentally said something outrageous.
She lightly patted her hand to divert Feilin’s attention.
“You want to sleep with me, don’t you?”
Dai threw this awkward question back at Feilin with a straight face.
Who would want that!
“If possible, I’d prefer our relationship to be purely romantic without physical contact.”
Feilin chose an answer that wouldn’t offend Dai.
Whenever topics involving clients’ bodies came up, even sweet talk required caution.
Otherwise it would definitely become sexual harassment.
“Really? Facing a beautiful girl like me, you can still say such things. Are you impotent?”
Feilin’s fists clenched.
This arrogant young lady who thought everyone would like her while flipping her hair and saying vicious things!
Though she was indeed very beautiful.
And from a prestigious family.
And very beautiful.
He really wanted to pin her against the wall, watch her face redden with panic, and say “Want to try tonight?”
But considering this young lady who paid him 120,000 kronor monthly was in a bad mood tonight, Feilin endured it.
Making money on your knees isn’t shameful!
“Miss Dai is too beautiful—in my eyes, you radiate divine light like a goddess. I simply dare not be disrespectful to divinity.”
Dare not be disrespectful to divinity.
Hearing this phrase, Dai gripped her teacup tightly without looking up.
“What if I’m disrespectful to divinity?”
“We’re lovers, aren’t we? I’d be disrespectful to divinity too. Between gods and Miss Dai, I’d definitely choose Miss Dai.”
Feilin flashed a perfect smile.
The gods of this world wouldn’t care about such trivial matters.
Hearing this, Dai froze for a moment.
She saw a flicker of emotion in her eyes.
She slowly stood from the soft chair, her waist-length black hair sliding from her shoulders like a gentle curtain.
Dai stopped in front of Feilin and leaned forward, her red lips approaching his ear.
Her breath brushed against Feilin’s ear, carrying a hint of black tea fragrance.
This distance was too close.
Close enough for Feilin to feel her slightly trembling breath.
Close enough to see the shadows cast by her long lashes.
“Don’t make promises to girls so easily.” She whispered in Feilin’s ear.
I’ll take them seriously.
Feilin saw a weariness in her dark green eyes that he’d never seen in Dai before.
“Miss Dai, was it hard going back home?”
Feilin moved behind Dai and gently massaged her shoulders.
“As your boyfriend, letting Miss Dai show such an expression is rather negligent of me.”
Dai’s shoulders were slender and soft—even through the silk fabric, he could feel her slight trembling.
Her body was somewhat stiff, as if she wasn’t used to being touched like this.
But she didn’t dodge, just lowered her head and let Feilin’s hands rest on her shoulders.
Those shoulders, usually emanating cold air, now seemed to hold a trace of vulnerability.
Like a cat being petted while remaining wary.
“You need to take responsibility for me.” Dai suddenly said.
“Eh?”
“Many of your clients get conquered by you like this, right?”
Dai turned her head sideways, her mouth curving in a meaningful smile.
Her usually expressionless face suddenly blooming was breathtakingly beautiful.
Women really were changeable.
“Are you free later?”
Dai suddenly asked.
“Any request from Miss Dai I’ll fulfill. Not seeing Miss Dai for a week made my heart rate slower than before.”
“I have nowhere to stay.”
Feilin raised an eyebrow slightly.
“The apartment on Tonk Street was cut off, so I don’t have anywhere to stay tonight.”
A trace of troubled blush appeared on Dai’s expression as she turned to look at Feilin.
“How much kronor do you have on you?” Feilin asked.
“About 200 kronor. Can you help me find lodging?”
That was nowhere near enough!
“Finding an ordinary room for just one night should be fine.”
Feilin thought for a moment, then asked.
“Could you stay at a friend’s place temporarily?”
“I don’t have any friends.”
Dai stated this less-than-cheerful fact in a light tone.
“That’s true too.”
Feilin propped his chin, thinking.
That left only one option.
Tonight they’d have to make do sleeping on a park bench—at least they could have an immersive experience of Saiva’s local customs.
Just as Feilin was about to speak, he suddenly remembered today was Sunday.
According to their contract, today was supposed to be his day serving Dai.
He’d only come to Violetti’s banquet to earn some extra money since he thought Dai wouldn
