Chapter 3
Chapter 3: I’m the Clown—Wait, Not Yet
Donk District.
Seiva’s most famous wealthy neighborhood.
White three-story detached villas gradually lit up in the night, with massive crystal chandeliers casting warm light through floor-to-ceiling windows onto meticulously manicured gardens.
Adelina didn’t live with her family.
She changed into a light blue silk slip dress, the lace trim at the chest unable to hide her impressive figure.
Adelina sat on the sofa, her legs pressed tightly together with her hands between them, her face covered in a pink flush that looked ready to drip water.
“Say it again.”
“Adelina, I really regret choosing Violette now. I know I’m not worthy of you now, but will you give me a chance to make it up to you?”
This kind of roleplay happened dozens of times every night.
Today, because he’d said Violette’s name, this young lady was completely overwhelmed with satisfaction.
This kind of mental victory method was very familiar to Philin.
He could judge from Adelina’s expressions when to confess, when to show regret, and when to blame himself.
This kind of wealthy young lady was actually quite easy to understand.
Compared to his other clients, she didn’t even rank in terms of difficulty.
It’s just that repeating the same scenario every day made him sick of it. Couldn’t they change it up?
And why did he always play these regretful roles? Honestly, the one who should regret most was himself for transmigrating and not enjoying a wealthy life before going into debt.
“Adelina, what do you want to eat tonight?”
After half an hour of passionate confession, Philin rubbed his numb legs.
Adelina was combing her hair, clearly still savoring the scene from earlier.
Adelina wouldn’t just pay for emotional validation—that wouldn’t be satisfying enough. She needed Philin to revolve around her.
“Whatever.”
“Understood.”
Here it comes!
The question that trips up virgins most on dates!
“Whatever” wasn’t really whatever—it required comprehensive analysis of her recent preferences, mood that day, outfit, weather conditions, and a series of other data points to reach a conclusion.
This couldn’t stump Philin. He’d written a full 200,000-word “Adelina Analysis Report”!
Adelina closed her bedroom door and sank into the small sofa.
Thinking about Philin calling out Violette’s name earlier made her grin uncontrollably.
Even though it was acting, it felt really good.
Tonight there was still a meeting with the student council from St. Andrews Academy, where Violette and Philin attended.
To enter the Royal Capital academies, students not only had to pass written exams but also hunt enough magical beasts to obtain the required number of magic crystals.
Ordinary students couldn’t possibly get that many crystals without family guard assistance.
To help commoners, the two schools collaborated to organize excellent but financially average students to enter dungeons together for hunting.
When it was time, Adelina composed herself and put on her usual gentle, confident expression.
“Then I’ll begin this meeting.”
The communication seal activated, displaying the meeting participants.
The student councils from both schools discussed for a long time, finalizing various details. The meeting went fairly smoothly.
After polite farewells, the meeting ended. Most people left, with only a few girls close to Adelina remaining to chat.
“Are you all going to Miss Violette’s party this weekend?”
“Yes! I really envy her for getting into the Royal Capital academy already.”
“I heard Violette finally got rid of her simp today.”
Adelina toyed with the white fluffy pig on her desk—a birthday gift from Philin.
Very ugly, but cutely ugly.
She had absolutely no interest in this kind of gossip, even about Violette.
Now she was just maintaining friendships before going offline to enjoy the dinner Philin prepared.
What would they eat tonight?
“So many people like her. Which one are you talking about?”
“That famous simp from our school—rumor has it he was even Violette’s former fiancé.”
The speaker was Linda, the student council president from St. Andrews Academy where Philin attended.
“With so many rumors, if each one were true, Violette would be too busy getting married to do anything else.”
“This one should be true—after all, it’s that person from three years ago…”
“The eldest son of the Solster family?”
Solster?
The fluffy pig’s head was suddenly squeezed hard.
“Philin Solster?”
“Right, that’s him. Adelina, I’m surprised you still remember him.”
Adelina’s heart sank, her mind grew confused, and her vision began to blur.
I don’t just remember him—I’m keeping him!
Wait, what’s going on?
Why is the ceiling spinning?
Philin is Violette’s simp?
Isn’t he my hired simp?
“Philin has always liked Violette? When did it start?” Adelina asked tremblingly.
“You never knew? For a long time—at least half a year.” Linda vividly described Philin’s past sincerity and struggles in pursuing Violette.
Adelina felt like a clown.
Thinking that Philin might share stories about her as jokes with Violette to please her, Adelina nearly fainted from lack of breath.
“But it’s too bad—there won’t be any more gossip like this. Today Philin said goodbye to Violette for good, and his tone was particularly tragic.”
“Can you trust what a simp says?” other girls questioned.
“I think it’s real. I feel like he’s fallen for another girl.”
“Are you sure about that, Linda?”
Adelina suddenly stood up, holding the communication seal with both hands.
“Oh, you’re still here? Usually you’re not interested in this stuff. I think it’s true—yesterday I saw him alone writing something in a notebook. I accidentally caught a glimpse.”
“What was it?” Adelina pressed urgently.
“He wrote things like how he really started regretting it, how could he really fall in love with you, and that he really wouldn’t love Violette anymore. Then today he said goodbye to Violette.”
!
!!
Adelina’s blue-gray pupils suddenly dilated.
If the white fluffy pig had a mouth, it would definitely be screaming under the intense pressure.
Fallen for another woman.
Regret.
How could he really fall in love with you.
Won’t love her anymore.
Wasn’t he writing about her?
Adelina frantically grabbed her water glass and took a sip, not even noticing her strap had slipped.
Just three days ago, she’d told Philin that the person who stole her pride was Violette.
Today, Philin broke things off with Violette.
Was this a coincidence?
A thought suddenly flooded her mind and wouldn’t leave.
He fell in love with me!
He broke off with Violette for me!
I stole Violette’s devoted simp!
My pride is back!
“Lady Adelina, is the meeting over? Would you like some pre-dinner sweets?”
Philin noticed the voices in the room had stopped and knocked on the door with a small cake.
Poor Philin didn’t know how much trouble his “Adelina Analysis Report” had caused.
But the moment he pushed open the door, Philin’s keen professional instincts sounded an alarm.
Damn!
Adelina lay on the bed, her rose-tea colored hair scattered across the white sheets.
She buried her face in the pillow, but her flushed cheeks were still visible.
Hearing the door open, Adelina slowly lifted her head. Her blue-gray eyes held panic and shyness, her pale cheeks tinged with a light blush, even her ear tips dyed pink.
“Who told you to come in?”
Adelina stood up stiffly, her expression very strange.
“I’m sorry, Lady Adelina.”
Philin lowered his head, looking at his feet.
“I wanted to see Lady Adelina so badly that my brain overheated and I just came in.”
“Wh…!”
I can actually smooth-talk my way out of this—I’m a fucking genius!
Philin didn’t notice Adelina’s face had grown even redder.
“Philin, sit down.”
Philin’s hand holding the cup trembled slightly.
Adelina’s tone was so gentle it was frightening.
What the hell is going on?
Philin came to Adelina’s side and sat down somewhat obediently.
“Do you like Violette?”
“Of course not, Adelina. I only like you.”
The same masterful acting as always.
“If one day you had to choose between her and me…”
“I wouldn’t choose.” Philin grasped Adelina’s hands and moved closer.
“In my heart, there would never be a choice scenario. I chose wrong once before, but when I met you again, Adelina, there will never be anyone else in my heart. You will always be my one and only.”
Philin knew very clearly this wasn’t a choice question at all.
When dealing with pure-hearted beauties like Adelina, he had absolute confidence.
“Hic.”
Adelina visibly reddened and even hiccupped.
