Chapter 32
Chapter 32: This Shouldn’t Be a Date, Right?
Sofia drove while watching the somewhat restrained two people in the back seat.
Violette placed her hands on her legs, gazing straight ahead.
She wasn’t clear about what Sofia was thinking.
With her social experience, she had no idea Sofia was trying to set her up with Filin. She just thought Sofia wanted her, an excellent student, to help Filin, who had poor grades.
She had never gone shopping alone with a member of the opposite sex before—no, she had never even been alone with any male except Filin.
Going to Holmholt tonight was simply… simply like a date.
A date…
Violette twisted her neck slightly, using her eyes hidden beneath her pink hair to quickly glance at Filin.
The evening sun’s afterglow streamed into the car. Filin leaned against the car window, squinting slightly, the golden halo outlining his profile with a few traces of lazy youth.
His black hair was somewhat tousled by the wind, his shirt collar casually open, revealing his collarbone.
The young man’s shadow left an impression in the young woman’s eyes.
“We’re here. I’ll go park first. You two get out and wander around.”
Sofia watched the two get out of the car, unable to suppress her auntie smile.
Her driving skills really weren’t good—parking would also take two hours. You two just take your time strolling.
Holmholt Commercial District.
The central crystal tower was like a giant glow stick, constantly flashing purple light.
Walking on the cobblestone paths, looking at the colorful shop signs around the streets, Filin felt like he had returned to his original world.
Various scents filled the air—barbecue, takoyaki, fruit tea, the perfume scent from the girl beside him—as if all the beautiful smells in the world had gathered here.
Filin couldn’t help but look back at Sofia’s slowly departing car, unable to resist complaining: was there really a place to study here?
Although he didn’t know the reason, Filin could feel that Sofia was trying hard to set him up with Violette.
This teacher was really good to him, because even if he and Violette didn’t work out, logically speaking, he would end up with breakup money.
Filin didn’t blame Sofia—she just didn’t know about his contract with Seraphiel. If he really did that, what he’d get would be burial money, not breakup money.
But would Violette really go along with Sofia’s nonsense?
He squinted, his gaze falling on Violette.
Passing men and women all turned to look at Violette.
Violette was like the champion cherry blossom selected from all the cherry blossoms in the world, attracting everyone’s attention.
The evening wind was a bit cool, so she wore a cream-colored knit cardigan over her pink dress, with the sleeves slightly rolled up.
A thin light brown leather belt was tied around her waist, with a deep blue bow brooch pinned to her chest.
Could Violette have agreed to Sofia’s plan because she really couldn’t let go of him after the contract ended?
Filin quickly dismissed this thought.
This young lady couldn’t think that much—when it came to interpersonal relationships, she was a complete fool.
Maybe she simply accepted Sofia’s request to help him with tutoring.
“Young sir, would you like your beautiful girlfriend to try our newest [Seraphina] necklace? Your girlfriend’s temperament really suits it perfectly.”
“You’re mistaken—we’re not in a romantic relationship.”
“What a pity, you two are such a perfect match…”
Filin crossed his arms, rejecting the clerk’s sales pitch while quickly glancing at Violette.
She clutched her handbag tightly, her head slightly lowered.
Even her pink hair ends seemed to curl up shyly, hanging on her shoulders as if waiting for someone to play with them.
Those amber eyes looked away from Filin’s side, but occasionally would quickly glance at him before quickly looking away.
Filin felt somewhat troubled.
He couldn’t guess Violette’s thoughts, nor did he want to.
Otherwise he’d be like some innocent youth, seeing the girl occasionally show shy expressions and thinking “she must like me.”
Having emotional entanglements with a former client was fundamentally a problem with his work—he hadn’t made a clean break with her.
So next, he needed to nip this feeling, whatever it was, in the bud.
While thinking this, they arrived at the coffee shop Sofia had mentioned.
It was located in a small alley in the commercial district, surrounded by old brick walls covered with vines, as if separated into two worlds from the bustling main street.
The clerk seemed to be Sofia’s acquaintance. She led the two to a corner on the top floor. Here they wouldn’t be disturbed, and they could see the full view of Holmholt Street.
Drinking sweetened coffee while looking at the night view and saying sweet things—this was the perfect dating spot for lovers.
“Two house specialties, plus a Carlomus cake, please.”
Filin closed the menu and handed it to the server.
Violette braced her hands on the chair, her feet swinging involuntarily.
That was her favorite cake. Filin still remembered her taste—he was still thinking of her.
What Violette didn’t know was that the Carlomus cake on the menu had been circled by someone, with a line of text.
It read:
[I checked—Violette loves eating this. Choose it quickly!!!]
Violette sat by the window, watching the couples holding hands downstairs, unable to resist glancing at Filin again.
Her gaze fell on Filin’s hands, and her mind conjured fantasies of herself holding hands with Filin too.
“Violette? Are you feeling unwell?”
Filin watched as Violette suddenly gulped down several mouthfuls of bitter coffee, her face nearly matching her hair color.
“No, I was thirsty.”
Violette replied expressionlessly, but her hands under the table gripped the tablecloth tightly.
This coffee is so bitter!
The tutoring began in this unclear, ambiguous atmosphere.
“So the formula here means this…”
Violette immersed herself in her own world, unable to suppress a slight upturn of her mouth corners.
That cold expression became especially alluring because of this curve.
On one side was soothing elven music, on the other the aroma of coffee beans and cake.
Most importantly, that familiar person sat right beside her, very close. And because of the tutoring, he wouldn’t leave anytime soon.
Violette couldn’t help swinging her legs again, her tone gaining some inflection.
These past few days she could feel that Filin seemed to be deliberately avoiding her.
But now, everything felt like it had returned to before—Filin seemed to be that person who would never leave her side again.
How wonderful.
“Excuse me, you two, there’s a girl downstairs looking for a customer named Filin. Are you…?”
Watching the server approach with an apologetic expression, Violette frowned.
Downstairs, a girl, looking for Filin.
Her hand reached into her bag, searching for a seventh-tier spell seal.
