Chapter 34
Chapter 34: Sorry, I Can’t Accept It
“Linda, what’s the matter?”
Edlina wore a bathrobe, revealing her fair, smooth shoulders.
She had just finished bathing, her rose tea-colored long hair still carrying some moisture.
Her neckline was slightly damp with water marks, clearly wet from her undried hair ends.
Linda’s complaints came through the communication spell seal—girls this age always had many troubles.
“So come shopping with me!”
“Eh? It’s this late?”
“Lady Edlina! My good lady, the world’s cutest Edlina, please please please. I’m so sad today, woo woo woo.”
“Alright, alright.” Edlina dried her hair with a towel while comforting her like a child. Her very well-developed chest made the bathrobe wrapped around her body show a somewhat exaggerated curve.
“I’ll go, isn’t that enough…”
“Yay! I knew Lady Edlina was the best. Let’s go to Holmholt! I haven’t been there in so long.”
…
Inside a doll shop in Holmholt that had entered a seventh-tier spell seal bombing countdown.
“So cute…”
Bernice crouched on the ground, continuously poking a light blue little pig with her finger.
Having almost no recreational activities normally, this was also her first time shopping with someone else.
Being in this kind of scene with her target, Bernice unconsciously relaxed and even felt a bit of enjoyment.
Filin couldn’t understand where this blue little pig was cute.
If he had to say, that giant caterpillar doll over there was what girls would like.
He had just asked Bernice. Although she smiled and said, “This doll is so cute too, Filin is really good at choosing,” Filin still saw a trace of disgust and rejection in her eyes.
“What kind of dolls does Lady Violette like?”
Bernice crouched on the ground, looking up at Filin.
From Filin’s angle, he could easily see the white expanse of her chest.
Out of social etiquette, he had to look at her eyes, which meant he would see her chest. If he avoided it too obviously, wouldn’t that let her know he saw her chest, making it even more embarrassing?
Right, this was a deadly question that would be embarrassing no matter what he did.
Faced with such problems, Filin had only one answer.
That was to not do it at all.
He crouched beside Bernice, arms around his knees, making eye contact with her at the same level.
“I think Miss Violette might like this doll just like you do. I want to buy one for her too.”
Hearing this, Bernice’s hand that had been poking the doll froze in mid-air.
“Senior Filin…” Bernice buried her head, looking at Filin somewhat shyly, “Senior Filin also thinks Lady Violette is very beautiful, right?”
They didn’t notice the pink-haired figure that had come to the shelf on the other side, eavesdropping where they couldn’t see her.
“Mm! Miss Violette is very beautiful, and she’s also very kind. She was even willing to tutor someone like me today.”
“Then Senior Filin, what do you think of Senior Violette…”
Bernice’s face showed a trace of embarrassed blush, her fingertips constantly touching each other.
Her eyes hidden behind her hair occasionally glanced at Filin, and when their eyes met, she would shyly look away.
“Miss Violette is of course perfect—perfect from every aspect as a lover. She’s not picky about food, good at sports, and not arrogant toward people around her.”
“Although she always looks cold, she’s actually just socially anxious. She just doesn’t know how to communicate with people. Beneath that icy expression, her heart isn’t actually that cold.”
A tuft of pink hair behind the shelf stood up.
“But someone like me being able to stand beside her is already very satisfying. I wouldn’t dare have any improper thoughts about her.”
“I see…”
Bernice’s shoulders relaxed, as if she’d heard a satisfactory answer.
She smiled sweetly at Filin, leaning her head toward him until their noses almost touched.
“That’s wonderful.”
Bernice stared intently into Filin’s eyes, as if wanting to convey the girl’s burning feelings.
This was her first time being in such close contact with a man, and while saying such embarrassing things.
She didn’t notice her breathing was a bit quick, a faint pink appeared on her neck, and her cheeks were also flushed.
Filin noticed her physiological reactions. Clearly she was the one making the move, yet she was still having these reactions.
“Filin.”
A cold voice saved Bernice.
“Violette? How did you get here?”
Seeing that scene just now, Violette finally couldn’t bear it anymore.
Her mouth and body reacted before her brain. By the time she realized it, she was already in front of the two of them.
“This is today’s new transfer student, Miss Bernice.”
Bernice looked up at Violette, briefly thinking in her mind.
She had originally planned to say: “You two have such a good relationship, I hope I didn’t disturb you.”
But seeing Violette’s expression, she changed her mind.
Bernice’s body leaned toward Filin’s back, her soft chest ‘accidentally’ touching Filin’s back.
“Senior Violette, I’m Bernice. Just now I asked Senior Filin to help me pick a gift for you. It shouldn’t have taken this long, but we two were chatting so happily that we didn’t notice the time.”
Violette’s gaze shifted to Bernice, their eyes seeming to spark fire.
Chatting so happily?
Filin felt the ill-intentioned statement from the girl behind him, wondering what exactly she was trying to do.
“Senior Violette, we were just talking about which doll you’d like. This blue little pig, or that caterpillar.”
Violette’s neck turned slightly, looking at the two dolls. Her gaze finally settled on the light blue little pig.
“By the way, Senior Filin chose the caterpillar doll.”
“I like the caterpillar.” Violette immediately said.
Hearing Violette’s answer, Bernice’s mouth showed an inconspicuous smile.
So for Filin’s sake, she could even accept such an ugly doll?
These two really had an unusual relationship.
Lady Dei’s boyfriend seemed quite popular indeed. I wonder if Dei knows?
“Senior Filin really understands Senior Violette better.”
After Bernice paid for the light blue little pig, instead of handing it directly to Violette, she stuffed it into Filin’s arms.
“It’s getting late. Senior Violette, Senior Filin, I’ll head home first. If I’m late, Father will be angry. I was really happy to meet Senior Violette today.”
As Bernice walked toward the door, she deliberately brushed Filin’s chest with her shoulder.
“I’ll leave first so I don’t disturb you two. See you at school tomorrow.”
The moment Bernice left the shop, the smile disappeared from her face, returning to that doll-like expression.
“Filin, why did you leave?” Violette turned to face Filin, saying expressionlessly.
“Because you’ve spent a lot of energy tutoring me lately, so I thought I’d buy you a gift as thanks.”
Filin held the caterpillar doll and offered it to Violette.
Violette’s eyes flickered. She reached out her hands to accept it.
But she suddenly thought of something. Those hands froze in mid-air, then slowly retreated.
“You do think it’s ugly after all. I should buy this blue little pig instead.”
Violette shook her head, her pink hair swaying with the movement.
“I can’t accept Filin’s gift.”
“Eh?” Filin looked somewhat confused.
