Chapter 4
Chapter 4: He Really Loves Me
This is too weird.
Feilin frantically searched his mind for why Adelina was showing an expression like she’d fallen in love.
After a brief moment of thinking, Feilin gave up.
Someone who could hold a grudge from kindergarten until now—what kind of strange thought patterns such a person might have was beyond his comprehension.
Adelina herself wasn’t normal to begin with, so having weird expressions was probably normal too, right?
After freezing for thirty seconds, Adelina pulled her hands away and pushed Feilin back with a shove.
“Who told you to touch my hands?”
Feilin was pushed to the ground, and though his brain still couldn’t figure out what was happening, years of professional training had already made him react instinctively.
“I’m sorry, Lady Adelina. I know I’m still not worthy of you right now, but I’ll work hard. Just give me a chance…”
Seeing Feilin like this, Adelina suddenly felt a pang of heartache.
After being pushed away by her, he was actually this sad.
He really loves me.
“Is dinner ready?”
Adelina slowly stood up, unconsciously hugging the white pig head plushie tightly.
“Almost ready. There’s still a stew that needs about half an hour.”
Feilin carefully smoothed out the wrinkles on Adelina’s clothes, his hands inevitably touching Adelina’s tender skin.
This kind of physical contact was one of the secrets to building emotional connection with clients.
Feilin had deliberately practiced not showing even a hint of playfulness or frivolity in his expression—that would absolutely ruin his favorability.
Adelina’s breathing almost stopped. She stood there stiffly as Feilin did what he’d often done before, but today she saw the love in Feilin’s eyes that he couldn’t hide.
“What are you standing there for? Did you trim the lawn in the yard?”
Adelina suppressed the emotions in her heart, crossed her arms, and turned her head to the side.
“I’ll go do it right now.”
Crazy.
Violetti was one, and Adelina was another.
Their emotions were way too unstable.
No wait, Violetti’s emotions were very stable—stably cold.
Feilin took the lawn trimming shears and trimmed the grass from 3.5 centimeters to 3.48 centimeters.
In other words, he didn’t trim anything at all. Slacking off.
Getting a high salary while not having to face the boss directly.
I love trimming grass!
Feilin shouted this in his heart.
Adelina stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, watching Feilin’s determined expression.
His movements were slow, as if he were trimming a work of art.
Even her casual commands, even something like trimming the lawn—he was doing it with such care, not half-heartedly at all.
He really loves me!
Adelina shook her head, twirling her rose tea-colored long hair with her fingers.
She’d clearly hired him to vent her anger, but thinking like this was getting dangerous.
She would never forgive him. She needed to teach him a proper lesson.
But at least she shouldn’t be too harsh on him.
In the past, he had to work at least five hours a day for her, with no weekends off.
Facing all her unreasonable demands, he only got a measly 100,000 kronor a month, and she often forgot to give him bonuses.
She’d never arranged paid vacation or health checkups for him, and he’d never gotten to go on overseas trips even once.
She was such a terrible person!
When Adelina came back to her senses, she found only the house’s lonely shadow remained on the lawn, and a hint of panic showed in her eyes.
“Lady Adelina, dinner is ready!”
The stew was finally done.
At the stone dining table, Feilin could feel like he was a high school girl in a miniskirt who’d encountered a train pervert.
Adelina was biting her fork while using terrible acting skills to hide the fact that she was stealing glances at him.
What was wrong with her?
Had that boring, tasteless brain program of hers finally broken down?
“Lady Adelina, how is tonight’s dinner? To your liking?”
Pan-seared lamb chops, cream mushroom soup, potato beef stew, lemon butter pan-seared scallops, and Adelina’s favorite crème brûlée.
These were all from the “Adelina Meal Guide” he’d compiled, recording her food preferences from the past week.
“Huh? Oh, delicious, delicious.”
When Adelina heard Feilin call her name, she suddenly startled and nodded frantically.
All her favorite foods.
He really loves me.
“About the party on Sunday, I don’t think I’ve asked your opinion yet.”
Adelina twirled her hair with her right hand, her eyes looking at the golden lamb chops on her plate.
Ask my opinion?
Ask me?
Me?
Feilin’s motion of cutting beef completely stopped.
He’d always only been able to follow Adelina’s arrangements, doing whatever she told him to do.
Suddenly pulling this—what was she up to? Very abnormal!
Could it be that Adelina wanted to play something big at the party?
Like making him loudly confess to Adelina in front of everyone.
That would be way too socially devastating.
“Of course I want to go with Lady Adelina, but is it okay for me to go? Someone like me…”
Feilin’s expression was genuinely heavy now, not an act at all.
“If I go, it’ll definitely hurt Lady Adelina’s reputation and cause trouble for Lady Adelina’s family.”
The fate of Feilin’s family was known to all the nobles in Seyva.
The former eldest son of the “Light of Seyva,” now reduced to living on others’ charity.
If Adelina really chose to attend with Feilin, she’d definitely face criticism.
Feilin slightly turned his head toward the window, showing carefully prepared sorrow.
He’d written “don’t mind me, I’m just a burden” all over his face.
Adelina looked at Feilin like this, her fingers gripping the fork tightly.
He must have had such a hard time these past days, right?
His family destroyed, parents gone, even survival was a problem.
She’d been insulting his noble dignity with money and throwing inexplicable tantrums at him.
Oh no, she wanted to hug him so badly. What should she do?
“It’s fine, I don’t care,” Adelina said.
But I care a lot!
Feilin sighed inwardly. It seemed it wouldn’t be that easy to dismiss her idea.
After Adelina finished speaking, she put down her knife and fork, thought for a moment, then got up and brought out a magic card from her room.
“You need to dress nicely for the party. There’s 100,000 kronor in here—go buy a formal outfit.”
Feilin looked up in panic, confirmed it several times, then carefully accepted the magic card with both hands.
A storm raged in Adelina’s heart. She definitely had to be nicer to him from now on. He was so pitiful!
“Even though I was wrong first, Lady Adelina is still so gentle to me.”
“Ahem, let’s eat.”
After dinner, Feilin, having received his bonus, diligently cleaned up the dishes by himself.
Adelina’s house was stocked with high-quality ingredients, delivered fresh daily, and he got to enjoy plenty of good food too.
Every day he just had to chat with Adelina and do some housework.
And Adelina really was beautiful, with a personality that wasn’t too bad. Spending every day with such a lovely girl without being mistreated wasn’t bad at all.
Feilin felt even the dishrag in his hands looked pleasing.
Was this the charm of money?
Adelina sat on the sofa with her arms around her legs, watching Feilin happily humming a tune.
Was this guy getting a bit too carried away?
Her casual act of kindness made him this happy?
He really loves me.
Seeing Feilin’s happy expression, Adelina felt a bit annoyed too.
Making her unable to enjoy her meal properly, yet this guy was so cheerful.
“Lady Adelina, I warmed some milk for you and washed some strawberries.”
“Strawberries for me to eat? Do you see me having time to wash my hands? Don’t you know to bring a small fork?”
“Right here.”
Feilin pulled an exquisite set of utensils from his pocket.
“Don’t you know strawberries taste worse when eaten with a small fork?”
Feilin’s expression remained smiling, maintaining his patience. Adelina often had these episodes, and that’s when he needed to take the initiative.
“Lady Adelina, my hands are very clean. Do you need me to feed you?”
“F-f-f-f-feed me?”
A slight blush crept up her cheeks.
“Who wants you to feed me? Are you getting a bit too cocky?”
“Then let me help wipe your hands.”
Feilin tore open a tissue, and seeing that Adelina didn’t refuse, he gently took her hand.
The girl’s hand was pale and slender, with just the right amount of softness.
Feilin carefully wiped Adelina’s hand with the tissue, every crevice, every inch of skin.
Watching Adelina gradually quiet down, Feilin’s lips curved slightly.
Wasn’t this getting her completely under control?
Adelina was just emotionally unstable, not a pervert.
She’d never asked to be fed strawberries with feet—that already made her much better than many clients his colleagues had encountered!
Adelina saw that Feilin’s gaze held no frivolity, but rather looked at her like she was a sacred deity.
He really loves me.
It was time to give him a little reward.
“Help me take off this ring.”
Feilin carefully removed the ring from Adelina’s middle finger. It looked quite valuable.
“Tonight’s dinner was delicious. I’ll give this to you.”
Adelina turned her head away. This excuse shouldn’t seem too casual, right?
Seeing Feilin’s delighted expression, the corners of Adelina’s mouth slowly relaxed.
What she didn’t know was that every professional cell in Feilin’s brain was working right now.
Dinner was good so you’re giving me a ring worth hundreds of thousands?
What am I, a kid?
What was wrong with her today?
She couldn’t really be planning to make him loudly confess to her in front of everyone at the party, right?
Then she’d cruelly reject him in front of everyone, get her kicks, immediately terminate the contract, and completely end their relationship.
That would just be using him as a suicide bomber.
“That’s enough for today. You can go.”
Adelina’s voice returned to its usual gentleness.
There were still twenty minutes until 10 o’clock, and she never let him leave early.
Feilin blinked and gave Adelina a sweet smile.
“Lady Adelina, see you tomorrow!”
I’m screwed, I’m going to get fired!
Feilin silently roared in his heart.
Adelina hid behind the gap in the curtains, watching Feilin look back every few steps.
Even knowing she wasn’t watching him, he still couldn’t bear to leave.
He really loves me.
It wasn’t until Feilin’s figure disappeared completely that Adelina slowly stood up, rubbing her knees that had gone numb from kneeling.
On the table was the warm milk Feilin had made for her, with a note pressed under the cup.
“Good night, Miss. I’ll strive to let the world see you sooner tomorrow.”
“Always writing these things.”
Adelina said this while pursing her lips and placing the note in the table’s compartment.
Just then, her communication magic card also received a message. Linda had already written up the list of students from their school participating in the joint hunting activity.
Feilin Solster.
Adelina’s eyes immediately caught this name.
A few years ago, she still remembered visiting the Solster estate, where tall knight guards stood neatly at the entrance, each wearing the Solster family’s honor badge on their chest.
Now their eldest son had fallen to participating in commoner activities.
Rain began falling outside, droplets hitting the glass with tiny pattering sounds.
The bedroom’s lighting was dim, with only the desk lamp casting warm light.
Adelina curled up on the sofa, holding the steaming cup with both hands, the milk’s fragrance slowly spreading in the sound of rain.
She picked up her communication magic card and slowly typed.
“Linda, I wonder if I could be responsible for the groupings the day after tomorrow?”
