Chapter 5
Chapter 5: She’s Watching Him Watching Her
Eastern Seyva, Crescent Moon Station.
The night wind was a bit chilly.
Feilin was making a brief stop here while transferring to his third bus.
Because the ice pops here were 2 kronor cheaper than other places.
Tonight’s Adelina was like her left and right brain fighting each other, with neither side winning.
Exhausting.
Beautiful girls really were troublesome.
Feilin sat on the station’s bench, waiting for the next bus.
The platform was always lively, while the VIP area not far away was quiet like another world entirely.
Several attendants were walking quickly and silently, as if preparing for some important reception.
Looked like some noble had come to the station again.
Recently, for Lady Violetti Silaphel’s party, there had been quite a few more nobles coming and going than usual.
“What a grand affair,” Feilin muttered to himself.
As Feilin turned to look at the night sky, several attendants in the VIP area were struggling to carry the Silaphel family’s giant coat of arms into the reception room.
“Daddy!”
A little girl with twin tails emerged from the crowd. She set aside the vendor tray hanging from her neck and hugged Feilin’s leg tightly.
“Lina, I’m not your daddy.”
Feilin patted the girl’s head with a somewhat helpless smile.
His clients were scattered all over Seyva, so he often had to come to the station to transfer. Over time, he’d become familiar with Lina, who sold things here.
“What about that very pretty mommy with green eyes?”
“She hasn’t come back yet.”
Lina was talking about the client he’d escorted to the station last week.
Dai Aurean.
[Absolutely beautiful girl]
[Satisfy all her demands, and absolutely cannot leak any conversations with her]
[Probably a big shot]
This was Feilin’s client record for Dai.
The first time Feilin received that assignment, he thought this mysterious young lady was into S&M.
S&M wouldn’t be out of the question either, as long as the pay was right.
After all, this world didn’t have steel wool yet—Feilin had specifically confirmed this point.
After actually meeting Dai, he found she wasn’t even as good as being into S&M.
Unlike Violetti’s cold gaze, Dai was more like a lofty goddess, observing everyone in the world with absolutely rational eyes.
She even knew about all his other clients—whether it was Violetti, Adelina, or that super popular idol and luxury goods merchant.
He had no privacy in front of her; it felt like everything was seen through.
She was quite happy to watch Feilin navigate between girls, sitting on her throne and enjoying her twisted sense of amusement.
“Too bad, I wanted to see that pretty mommy again. When is she coming back?”
“Next week.”
Next week Dai would return to Seyva, and his brief peaceful time would end.
“Daddy looks really tired. Want an ice pop? I’ll give it to you.”
Lina let go of Feilin’s leg and struggled to open her small vendor cart, which had a cheap cooling magic card stuck to it.
“Thank you, Lina.”
While Lina wasn’t looking, Feilin stuffed 10 kronor into her cart.
“Next time you come to pick up that pretty mommy, remember to come find me. I want to see her again.”
“Mm-hmm, of course. Lina’s ice pops are the best at Crescent Moon Station.”
Lina skipped away, her old dress with patches swaying gently with her movements.
A train whistle pierced the night, and the train pulled into the station.
Feilin quickly finished his ice pop and stood up from the bench. Time to head home too.
As he turned around, he saw a familiar figure.
A cream-colored knee-length dress outlined beautiful curves, with elegant blue patterns on the hem like cornflowers blooming in morning dew.
Pink long hair was casually tied with a silver ribbon, with a few strands gently falling by her ears. A matching silk scarf around her neck added a touch of lazy elegance.
So cute!
Violetti Silaphel.
The moment Feilin turned around, he saw this young lady staring straight at him.
Who knew how long she’d been standing there!
She must think he’d followed her to the station again.
The distance between them was very close—close enough for Feilin to smell the faint fragrance of her hair. This scent, like dewdrops falling on petals, would definitely leave an unforgettable memory in any boy’s heart.
Violetti didn’t speak. She was waiting for Feilin to explain.
Feilin knew Violetti was waiting for him to speak first, because that’s how it always went. Every time Violetti discovered him, Feilin would make up a bunch of excuses, then take the opportunity to express his true feelings.
In this aspect, the two had developed a certain understanding.
“Good evening.”
Feilin greeted her, only getting a nod in response.
“I’m heading home. Goodbye.”
Feilin waved and turned to leave.
Violetti tugged at her scarf, covering the corners of her mouth.
“You didn’t come tonight.”
“What?”
He stopped, as if he’d heard alien language.
“No cheese dew.”
When Feilin learned that the cheese dew Violetti liked to drink couldn’t be bought in Seyva City, he researched countless recipes and made it himself.
The process was very troublesome, but fortunately Violetti liked it.
Violetti refused all of Feilin’s gifts, except for the cheese dew.
So almost every afternoon, Feilin had to go deliver cheese dew to Violetti.
Not only because Feilin had to complete his simp missions, but this young lady actually paid—200 kronor per bottle!
The cheese dew only cost about 5 kronor to make.
“Money, I’ll give you.”
Violetti pulled out a pink wallet with a unicorn print from her pocket and took out 1,000 kronor.
“About that, I won’t be making it anymore.”
“Eh?”
Violetti tilted her head slightly, her arm still extended in the money-offering gesture.
“It’s very troublesome to make, and it would cause trouble for Lady Violetti, wouldn’t it?”
Hearing this, Violetti slowly clenched the money tight, her arm dropping naturally.
She lowered her head, looking at Feilin’s feet.
“I’m leaving first. It’s getting late, or I’ll miss the last bus.”
When Violetti looked up, Feilin had long since disappeared.
All around were blurry faces, like watercolor paintings wet with rain, blurring into mottled patches of color under the lights.
Violetti silently put the money back in her wallet, looking in the direction Feilin had gone, and sighed.
She’d come to the station to pick up her uncle’s family from abroad.
She’d run into Feilin here and thought he’d somehow found out about this and wanted to “coincidentally” meet her.
Her pink long hair was blown a bit messy by the night wind, dancing in the air.
The wind after rain was a bit cold, and she instinctively hugged her arms.
Violetti had seen Feilin show such calm tenderness when facing that little girl.
So she’d never really understood the real Feilin.
Or rather, Feilin had never given her the chance to understand the real him.
Feilin gripped the bus handrail, looking at the colorful river of lights outside the window.
He felt like after ending things with Violetti today, it was like pushing over dominoes—his whole world had changed.
“Let’s get some sleep early tonight.”
Looking at his reflection in the glass passing through buildings, Feilin showed himself a smile tinged with exhaustion.
Tomorrow he still had to participate in that joint hunting activity.
He also wanted to get into the Royal Capital academy and escape his current life.
No more looking at clients’ faces, no more acting out fake scenarios.
“Hope tomorrow goes smoothly.”
