Chapter 58
Chapter 58: The Calm Before the Storm
After returning from the underground city, Feilin only rested for one day.
Even though he had encountered demons, life wouldn’t spare him just because of that excuse.
He had to support his family, pay off debts, and cover his sister’s medical treatment.
Too bad this world didn’t have some lottery religion, or he would definitely convert.
This week, all the young ladies seemed unusually quiet, which made Feilin uncomfortable—it felt like the calm before a storm.
Time quickly arrived at Thursday.
Afternoon sunlight bathed the campus.
Several girls in athletic shorts held rackets on the playground, sweat dampening the hair at the nape of their necks.
On benches under the trees, a few girls sat together chatting about what seemed to be romance topics, their faces all flushed red as they let out endearing laughter.
Several couples walked past Feilin shoulder to shoulder, playfully teasing each other from time to time.
Feilin sat alone on a bench, watching how everyone else on campus seemed to have something to do.
Only he was idle and somewhat bored.
Dai had said that tonight someone would come to their house to check whether the two of them were really a couple.
Although Feilin was worried about whether Miss Dai could really act the part well, he had already done everything he could.
The rest was up to the great divine being.
Aside from Dai tonight, there were no other clients who needed his services today.
Feilin leaned back against the bench, tilting his head up to look at the sky.
It seemed like he hadn’t experienced such leisurely time in ages—he really wasn’t used to it.
“Feilin, there you are.”
Rose-tea colored long hair blocked out the sky like a gentle curtain.
Adelina leaned down, looking at him with a smile.
She was wearing Lanqie Academy’s student uniform today. The deep blue uniform showcased her alluring figure, with the bow at her chest tied meticulously.
Those blue-gray eyes sparkled with gentle light in the sunlight, and her fair face wore an elegant smile.
“May I sit here?”
Feilin took out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped the dust off the bench.
“Adelina, is there something you need?”
“I’m here to discuss the student council’s upcoming plans with you.” Adelina took out a notebook and placed it on her knees, flipping through it.
Black stockings wrapped around her slender legs beneath her skirt, gleaming with fine luster in the afternoon sunlight.
She crossed her legs slightly, and Feilin caught a glimpse of snow-white thigh.
“Because this school festival will invite many people, our student council needs to invite many celebrities and notable figures.”
“In my opinion, none of them are as important as Adelina.” Feilin blurted out.
Oh no! When he was with Adelina, he unconsciously triggered his client bootlicking mechanism.
Adelina’s fingers suddenly stopped on the notebook, her rose-tea colored hair swaying slightly.
Her ear tips quietly flushed red, but were quickly hidden by her long hair.
This sudden confession made Adelina’s heart race.
Really, there are still so many people around…
Can’t you save such things for when it’s just the two of us?
She forced herself to remain composed, looking through her notebook.
“This is the guest our school students are most excited about—Singer Miss Zel Weini. She seems super famous lately. There are fan posters of her all over our school, and I see many girls at your school really like her too.”
Hearing this name, many unpleasant memories suddenly flooded Feilin’s mind.
“I’m scheduling a meeting with her right now. Once I set the time, you’ll come with me and we’ll talk to her about the school festival.”
Adelina closed her notebook and tucked it away in her bag.
She had her reasons for doing this.
On one hand, it gave herself and Feilin time together… no, it gave Feilin time to spend with her.
On the other hand, she thought Feilin might also be a fan of this popular singer. If she brought him to meet Miss Zel Weini, Feilin might be very happy.
“I have to go too?”
“Mm-hmm, you’re my assistant after all. Don’t worry, I scheduled the meeting during our service period.”
Adelina looked at Feilin’s somewhat shocked expression and secretly felt pleased.
It seemed Feilin was already getting excited about meeting Zel Weini—his expression was frozen in place.
Feilin was so lucky to love such a kind girl who always considered his feelings.
Feilin was indeed frozen, but not from surprise and excitement.
It was fear.
Popular singer Zel Weini Einzbern was his former client.
When their contract ended, Zel Weini was just a moderately famous singer. He hadn’t expected that in half a year she had grown into one of the most representative singers in the entire Sivihius Empire.
When their contract ended, there had been a small problem that left things unpleasant.
This girl who seemed full of energy to the public wanted to freeload off him forever.
She wanted Feilin to marry into her family.
Feilin had refused immediately.
What a joke—he was a public resource belonging to everyone. Did she want to put a lock on him?
Feilin and Zel Weini quickly lost contact, and he completely disappeared from her sight.
But he’d heard that over the past six months, she still hadn’t given up and had been constantly asking around about Feilin’s whereabouts.
Fortunately, Feilin had disguised his identity back then, so she hadn’t been able to find him.
But now he would have to appear before her voluntarily, and with Adelina no less!
Feilin felt a wave of despair.
Ceva was so big—why did his clients always get drawn together like magnets?
During Adelina’s service period, she had the right to dispose of him as she wished, and Feilin couldn’t refuse her requests.
He could only wear a mask or disguise himself somehow when the time came, hoping to fool Zel Weini.
The sun embraced everything in the world, making Adelina look even more beautiful in its glow.
Adelina leaned back on the bench, only then noticing that they were surrounded by couples hugging and playing around.
Realizing that she and Feilin would also look like lovers to outsiders, her eyelashes drooped slightly as she gripped her skirt hem, looking somewhat embarrassed.
But this really felt so comfortable.
She’d taken a bath this morning and changed into clean school clothes.
For lunch she’d eaten her favorite Cuckoo Drea petit cakes.
The proposal she’d worked several nights on had finally been adopted by the school.
The afternoon sunlight dispelled any chill in the world, warming her body.
Feilin beside her would always love her, no matter what willful requests she made, he would fulfill them.
A tired wind blew over Adelina.
Her head nodded forward lightly a few times before she finally gave in to her willfulness and fell asleep.
Adelina’s body swayed slightly toward Feilin, her head resting on his shoulder.
“Adelina?”
Feilin said softly, realizing this young lady had fallen asleep from exhaustion.
He squinted and saw Adelina’s eyes gently closed, her lips even curved in a comfortable arc.
Let her sleep for ten minutes, Feilin thought as he watched her.
This wasn’t safe at the academy—Violette could discover them at any time.
But ten minutes should be fine.
Adelina’s head nuzzled against Feilin’s shoulder as she whimpered softly.
Ten minutes later.
Feilin didn’t wake Adelina.
Because he had also fallen asleep under her influence.
Rose-tea colored long hair fell in front of Adelina’s face like a gentle curtain, shielding her features.
The two only gradually woke when the end-of-lunch-break bell rang.
Adelina rubbed her eyes and used her hand to hook away the stray hair hanging by her mouth.
She realized she had actually slept for so long!
“I can’t believe I slept that long too!” Feilin checked the time, feeling somewhat dejected.
So much for only sleeping ten minutes.
“Wait! Feilin!”
Adelina saw that Feilin’s shoulder was somewhat damp. She quickly pressed down on Feilin’s head, not letting him look at her.
She had drooled on Feilin’s shoulder!
Adelina was about to cry, her blue-gray eyes covered with a thin layer of mist.
Wuu wuu wuu, how embarrassing.
“Feilin, your uniform got dirty here somehow. I’ll have someone bring you a new set right away.”
“Eh?” Feilin couldn’t turn around because Adelina had him in a chokehold.
The school dismissal bell echoed across campus, and the setting sun’s afterglow painted the classroom building windows red.
Students gradually left their classrooms, drawing this peaceful day to a close.
In the grade supervisor’s office.
“Teacher Sofia, I…” Violette’s voice carried a hint of hesitation.
Sunlight streaming through the window reminded her of the day Feilin had said goodbye to her.
Textbooks, desks—everything she could see was dyed red, even her memories took on a faint red tint.
“Miss Violette, it’s already this late. Don’t back out now.”
Sofia packed up her things while patting Violette’s shoulder.
Tonight they would go to Feilin’s house under the pretext of tutoring, giving the two of them time alone.
As for why Sofia didn’t give Feilin advance notice, the lesson from last time at Homholt had taught her that Feilin was quite stubborn.
Sometimes a little external pressure could work wonders.
“Shall we go?”
Violette wore a white sundress today, its hem floating lightly above her knees, revealing her slender calves.
Two thin straps rested on her shoulders, exposing her fair shoulders and delicate collarbone.
White lace stockings wrapped around her long legs, the edges decorated with tiny bows.
Her pink hair fell over her shoulders, the ends slightly curled.
Sofia looked at Violette’s shy appearance and couldn’t help but pull her into a hug.
That brat Feilin—Violette was so fragrant and soft, cuddly like a little lamb. He was in for quite a treat tonight!
“Feilin won’t be angry with me, will he?”
“Angry with you? My dear Miss Violette, do you know what you look like right now? Like a beautifully wrapped present delivered to Feilin’s house at Christmas. He’ll be dying to unwrap you—how could he be angry?”
Sofia shook her head. This young lady truly didn’t know how alluring she looked today.
Just like the white moonlight in every young man’s heart—pure yet tinged with temptation.
Violette pressed her hands tightly against her chest, her moist eyes looking at the bow by her feet.
“Let’s go, Miss. Feilin can hardly wait.”
