Chapter 8
Chapter 8: Kidnapped by Bad People
After an unknown amount of time, Filin woke up in bed.
Looking at the unfamiliar ceiling above, Filin found this familiar feeling somewhat annoying.
Did I transmigrate again?
The room’s decor was elegant and luxurious.
Light golden wallpaper with intricate patterns reflected soft light under the crystal chandelier.
White lace curtains hung before the floor-to-ceiling windows, gently fluttering in the breeze and bringing the fragrance of roses from the garden.
Hearing the sound of a doorknob turning, Filin pretended to close his eyes.
“Miss Violetti, Lord Seraphiel is already somewhat angry. You just used a seventh-order spell seal on the Claude family’s young lady. Without a reasonable explanation…”
“I was saving someone.”
“But Miss Violetti…”
“Sorry, I’d like to be alone right now. Is that okay?”
With his eyes closed, Filin could only guess what happened through their conversation.
If he wasn’t still confused from sleep, what happened was this:
He and Adelina were adventuring in the dungeon.
Then Violetti hit Adelina with a city-destroying seventh-order spell seal.
Adelina’s guards appeared in time to save her, but no one protected him, so Violetti kidnapped him here.
This was insane.
Filin felt he’d still underestimated this world.
He couldn’t think of any reason why Violetti would attack Adelina.
Could this be some power struggle between major families?
He hadn’t heard of bad relations between the two families either.
“Fortunately, no one from the Claude family was injured. Miss Violetti, you mustn’t be so willful next time!”
The older voice gradually faded away.
With his eyes closed, Filin only heard footsteps.
Sometimes sound was strange—just from frequency and tone, you could tell what kind of beautiful girl it was.
Violetti came to Filin’s bedside and stood quietly.
Her pink hair fell softly over her shoulders, amber eyes lingering on Filin’s face.
She wore a light-colored dress, looking like a princess from a fairy tale.
Violetti maintained this position without moving for exactly five minutes before her eyes finally showed a trace of nervousness.
She slowly reached out her hand toward Filin’s face.
Her hair fell on Filin’s chest, letting him smell the girl’s fragrance.
Those hands with jeweled rings stopped three centimeters from Filin’s face—close enough to feel his breathing.
A pink flush appeared on Violetti’s pale neck as she pulled her hand back, covering her neck.
“Ugh, my head hurts.”
Filin made some fake groaning sounds, telling Violetti he was about to wake up.
“Where is this?”
Filin blinked, looking at the person standing beside his bed.
The setting sun was perfectly blocked by Violetti’s silhouette, forming a soft halo behind her.
She stood there as if gilded with gold, even her hair tips dyed with warm orange.
“My house. You were kidnapped.”
I know—you kidnapped me.
“So, you kidnapped me because…”
Violetti looked at Filin, tilting her head to one side.
“You were kidnapped by Adelina. I saved you.”
Filin was confused.
He suspected his life was like accidentally pressing the next episode button twice while binge-watching—quite a long stretch of plot had been skipped.
“Adelina kidnapped me?”
Though it felt about right.
“I happened to be in the dungeon today too and saw Adelina with many guards around her. Then I saw you with her.”
Violetti took a deep breath and said softly,
“I saw your forced smile and knew you’d been kidnapped.”
My forced smile?
Impossible!
Filin felt his professional integrity had been challenged.
His expression absolutely couldn’t be described as a forced smile!
Filin had spent countless nights practicing the most natural expressions in front of a mirror. Even when sleeping or sleepwalking, he could maintain the most sincere smile.
How did Violetti see through it from so far away?
“Um, let me ask—why did you think I was forcing a smile?”
Violetti raised an eyebrow, as if hearing something incredible.
“You only smile like that for me. What’s strange about that? Adelina must have forced you.”
This was bad.
Such a dangerous statement.
Am I her personal doll or something?
Filin spread his hands on the bed, not wanting to think about any possibilities.
He was tired, really tired.
“Adelina had quite a few guards, right? How did you kid—save me?”
“I used a seventh-order spell seal that could instantly blur people’s consciousness without harming them.”
A seventh-order spell seal—something you couldn’t buy even with ten million crowns.
Used just like that. Truly a young lady.
“Miss Violetti, I’m very grateful you saved me.”
Filin threw off the covers and discovered his clothes had been changed to silk pajamas.
“Thank you. Now that I’m fine, I won’t continue bothering you.”
He secretly glanced at Violetti, afraid she might show some terrifying expression.
“I understand.”
Violetti nodded with no particular expression.
“Your clothes got dirty when I saved you. As compensation, I’ll have someone make you a new set.”
Before Filin could refuse, Violetti clapped her hands and called the butler from outside.
“Young lady, we’ll begin right away.”
Filin didn’t want any economic relationship with Violetti. He was about to refuse again.
But seeing several maids walking in from the entrance made Filin’s heart skip a beat.
He had no mind for other random thoughts.
Maids! Real maids!
Actual maids wearing maid outfits!
Living until now was really wonderful.
Just thinking about these cute maid sisters showing shy expressions while reluctantly touching his body to take measurements.
Amazing!
“Why not use male servants?”
Violetti’s cold words shattered Filin’s fantasy.
“My apologies, young lady. I’ll change them immediately.”
The light disappeared from Filin’s eyes as he gave up resistance and turned to stone.
“Excuse us.”
Several middle-aged men took off his pajamas and measured his body with soft tape measures.
Filin sighed, then suddenly realized something was wrong.
Why hadn’t Violetti left yet?
Though his back was to her, Filin could still smell the hair care product Violetti used.
Violetti stood in place, hands clasped in front, gripping her skirt.
She’d forgotten to leave!
Focused only on not letting maids near Filin, she’d completely forgotten she should leave too.
What should she do? Leaving now would show she was embarrassed.
Standing here quietly, no one should notice, right?
Violetti forced herself to watch Filin’s body, not noticing her breathing had quickened.
Her gaze unconsciously lingered on Filin’s back.
The young man’s slender yet solid silhouette looked particularly distinct under the lights.
Violetti felt her face getting hotter. She pressed her hands to her cheeks, trying to cool down.
“Young lady, we’ve finished the measurements. It’ll be ready in an hour.”
“I, I see.”
The male servants bowed respectfully, left temporary clothes, and closed the door from outside.
“Um, Miss Violetti, I’m very grateful for everything you’ve done. You don’t need to compensate me.”
“Eh?”
Violetti turned around, showing slight surprise.
“Miss Violetti is compensating me, right? You think I’ve suffered a lot of criticism for pursuing you and lived miserably, so you’re helping me, right?”
Filin put on the casual clothes, touching the gold thread embroidery on the sleeves.
The evening light grew dimmer, with the last traces of red clouds slowly fading.
The rose garden outside was shrouded in twilight, flower petals covered with fine dewdrops like silent tears.
“Miss Violetti is truly kind. I’m very grateful for everything you’ve done for me.”
Is that so?
Violetti asked herself.
She couldn’t explain the reason for her actions.
