chapter 7
7. Following
“I could win? Senior Sister Song flatters me,” Lin Dongming smiled and shook his head. “Junior Sister White might not have used her full strength either.”
“Huh? But with her competitive personality, how would she hold back at a time like this?” Song Yumian was very confused.
Lin Dongming saw through it with one sentence: “Has Senior Sister Song heard that Junior Sister White was born with a Dao body?”
Song Yumian nodded.
“Then does Senior Sister know what kind of Dao body Junior Sister White has?”
Song Yumian thought for a moment, then shook her head.
“Dao body is a very vague and broad concept. The Innate Sword Body is a Dao body, the Yin-Yang Dao Body is also a Dao body, but these two are completely different Dao bodies. Regardless of which type Junior Sister White has, did Senior Sister see any special performance from her on the platform just now?”
Song Yumian came to her senses: “So you think she probably kept something in reserve? But many Dao bodies only make cultivation faster and don’t help in battles, right?”
“So it’s just speculation,” Lin Dongming tilted his head. “The rest is just intuition. I just feel that Junior Sister White wouldn’t be the kind of person to easily put all her cards on the table.”
“Aren’t you describing yourself?” Song Yumian quipped.
“At least for you, Senior Sister, all my cards have been seen,” Lin Dongming turned and waved his hand. “Please let your junior brother off the hook for now.”
“I can’t stand you,” Song Yumian waved her hand and turned to walk in another direction.
Lin Dongming glanced in the direction White Zhiqing had left, weighing the jade pendant in his hand. “Should I give this to her now?”
Suddenly, a slight movement from the treetops caught the corner of his eye.
Lin Dongming immediately narrowed his eyes: “This could be interesting. Let’s follow and see.”
The area near the sword dance platform was spiritually restricted to prevent people from engaging in private duels after matches due to unresolved grudges. To leave by flying sword, one had to first depart from near Crossing Far Lake. So on this path, catching up to White Zhiqing wasn’t difficult.
Lin Dongming concealed his aura, slowly following behind White Zhiqing.
White Zhiqing looked back once, seeing nothing behind her, and calmly turned back, walking out of the restricted area.
“Although I think Senior Brother Lin might not have ill intentions, following behind a junior sister like this isn’t proper, is it?” White Zhiqing looked back, directly pointing out Lin Dongming’s presence.
Lin Dongming didn’t hide: “Junior Sister White is truly perceptive. I thought I wouldn’t be discovered.”
White Zhiqing chuckled lightly: “If I hadn’t noticed, what did Senior Brother Lin plan to do?”
“Probably wait for your stalker to ambush you, then step in to prevent it. Play the hero rescuing the beauty,” Lin Dongming’s right hand shot out three streams of light, heading in three different directions.
Unfortunately, all three small swords missed, returning to Lin Dongming’s hand.
One in front, two behind—a total of three figures appeared before them.
“Oh? Crossing Far Peak?” White Zhiqing didn’t seem surprised at all by the figures’ appearance. “How come you’re doing such sneaky things?”
All three simultaneously drew their weapons: “You’re too arrogant, Junior Sister White.”
Lin Dongming thought for a moment: “I remember the one just defeated by Junior Sister White was Hong Xing, the personal disciple of Crossing Far Peak? He’s been causing trouble lately. You wouldn’t happen to be acting on his orders, would you?”
All three froze simultaneously, responding with silence.
Lin Dongming hadn’t expected his casual guess to be correct, and he felt somewhat conflicted.
Hearing this, White Zhiqing frowned: “Crossing Far Peak has many disciples in the Heavenly Extreme Sword Sect. I didn’t expect their personal disciple to behave like this. Very well. Attack then.”
White Zhiqing also drew the sword at her waist.
As soon as she finished speaking, the sword at the disciple’s waist in front shot out, splitting from one into ten, ten into a hundred, with sword light raining down like raindrops in an instant.
“Sword Control Technique… people from Crossing Far Peak really love this move.” Lin Dongming recalled facing someone from Crossing Far Peak when he was an outer disciple. At that time, the other party had been overbearing and domineering, and he could do nothing but swallow that anger.
But times had changed, and Lin Dongming was no longer that powerless outer disciple. He activated the Heaven Mirror Heart Method, reading the movements of all the flying swords clearly.
Stamping his right leg firmly on the ground, Lin Dongming turned into a swift wind, darting through the sword rain. The Sword Control Technique that Crossing Far Peak prided itself on couldn’t even touch the hem of his clothes.
“Tch.” The opponent clicked his tongue, pointing with his right hand. All the sword lights’ trajectories were disrupted, surrounding Lin Dongming from all directions, shooting at him from every angle without blind spots.
Lin Dongming didn’t retreat a step, drawing his sword to deflect one flying sword after another, rapidly closing in on the enemy.
Seeing that the ordinary Sword Control Technique wasn’t working, the opponent changed his attack method again. Spiritual energy rapidly gathered in the sword above his head, the blade continuously expanding to the size of a small mountain, crashing down toward Lin Dongming.
Lin Dongming was prepared, swinging his sword with full force, slashing out a crescent-like arc.

The huge sword body was forcibly deflected, and Lin Dongming had reached the enemy, with his sword at the throat: “I suggest you all stop now. If you don’t want to suffer physical pain.”
The opponent looked at the sword at his neck with lingering fear, cold sweat streaming down.
Looking back at White Zhiqing’s side, she had indeed resolved her situation too. When choosing opponents earlier, Lin Dongming had deliberately picked the strongest one. Still, being able to easily win against two opponents, White Zhiqing was indeed impressive.
“Get lost. If you don’t want to be killed,” White Zhiqing said coldly.
The three hastily flew away on their swords.
“I’ve long heard that the personal disciples of Crossing Far Peak are unreasonable and aggressive. I didn’t expect them to be so shameless,” Lin Dongming shook his head.
“Indeed. Compared to them, a certain player is much better,” White Zhiqing implied.
Lin Dongming smiled bitterly: “Don’t compare me to such people, right? I’ve never done anything harmful.”
Lin Dongming paused, then said: “Moreover, is what others say necessarily the truth? If Junior Sister White wants to believe these rumors, I can’t help it.”
“Then why did Senior Brother Lin help me?” White Zhiqing asked.
“Hmm…” Lin Dongming really hadn’t expected to be asked this question so soon. Today he had originally planned to just visit the sword dance platform and leave, simply to become a familiar face. He hadn’t expected to first be challenged by White Zhiqing to a duel on the platform, then to encounter stalking disciples and get into a fight.
“Because Junior Sister White is beautiful?” Lin Dongming casually made up a reason.
“Isn’t that exactly what a player would say?!” White Zhiqing was both angry and amused.
“Not necessarily… you’re injured,” Lin Dongming noticed a sword wound on White Zhiqing’s forearm, with crimson blood still flowing out.
“Just a small wound, it doesn’t matter,” White Zhiqing dismissed it.
“Still, better to be careful,” Lin Dongming casually cast a healing spell, with emerald spiritual energy slowly penetrating White Zhiqing’s wound, healing it in the blink of an eye.
“There’s still residual spiritual energy in the sword wound that you’ll need to dispel yourself through cultivation. But the flesh wound has already healed.”
“Senior Brother Lin knows so much,” White Zhiqing was a bit surprised.
“Just some experience,” Lin Dongming gazed at the forest before them, where there seemed to be other spiritual energy.
