Chapter 26
Chapter 26: Stop Talking and Touch Me
Hearing Cynthia’s questioning, Sean’s body involuntarily trembled.
Obviously, Cynthia had already noticed the abnormality on the werewolf’s corpse.
He had originally wanted to quickly disguise the werewolf’s wounds while Cynthia wasn’t there, but he hadn’t expected her to arrive at exactly this moment, completely disrupting his plan.
“When the werewolf fell, it hit a sharp stalactite on the ground, which is why there’s that hole in its head.”
Sean could only steel himself and explain stammering, but this far-fetched reason was too naive to fool Cynthia.
Sure enough, Cynthia narrowed her eyes, clearly not believing Sean’s explanation.
She crouched down again to examine the wound on the werewolf’s head, finding that the edges of the hole were very clean, nothing like what would be caused by hitting a rock.
But Cynthia couldn’t tell what weapon or magic had caused it. What puzzled her more was that Sean truly had no magical power—he had never hidden this fact.
Could it be that Sean was hiding some special method, an attack related to mental soothing?
Cynthia was about to continue questioning when a strange male voice came from deep in the cave, interrupting her train of thought.
“So you’re the ones who killed my test subject?”
Cynthia and Sean turned simultaneously to see a mysterious figure shrouded in a black cloak slowly emerging from the darkness.
His features were obscured by a strange magic, revealing only a pair of crimson eyes that emitted a cold light. His voice was low and hoarse, carrying an unsettling sense of oppression.
Sean broke out in a cold sweat. When had this guy appeared, or had he been in the cave all along?
“Who are you? You say this werewolf was your test subject? Was Mary’s transformation into a demon also your doing?”
Cynthia immediately became alert, magical light flickering faintly in her hand as she coldly questioned the figure.
“I didn’t expect that woman to break down so quickly… inferior bloodlines really are useless.”
The mysterious figure paused slightly upon hearing “Mary’s” name, then muttered to himself.
His tone carried disdain and disappointment, as if Mary had been nothing more than a failed experiment.
The mysterious figure then turned his gaze to Cynthia, his crimson eyes lingering on her face for a moment, his tone taking on a hint of greed.
“Your essence is very pure—perfect experimental material. Since you killed my test subject, you’ll have to take its place.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the mysterious figure suddenly attacked, raising his hand to send a pitch-black magical beam straight at Cynthia.
Cynthia reacted quickly, swinging the long sword in her hand as a blazing flame barrier instantly appeared before her, blocking the black beam’s assault.
However, the power of this black beam far exceeded her expectations. Cracks quickly appeared on the flame barrier, forcing Cynthia to retreat several steps, her face slightly pale.
This guy’s magical power… how could it be so strong?
Cynthia was shocked. She had never seen such a powerful male magical user.
In this world, male magical talent was generally less than one percent of females’, and males who could reach high-level magical user status were extremely rare. Yet this mysterious figure before her not only possessed powerful magic but used spells that were strange and unpredictable, completely beyond her understanding—she couldn’t even identify what elements composed them.
The mysterious figure’s attacks didn’t stop. His form seemed to merge with the shadows, moving through the darkness like a ghost. The darkness was like his stage, and each appearance brought potentially lethal magic.
Although Cynthia was a saint with considerable strength, she was unfamiliar with the terrain and the opponent’s abilities were extremely bizarre, so she gradually fell into a disadvantageous position.
For a moment, her breathing became rapid, and fine beads of sweat appeared on her forehead.
“Lady Cynthia, I’m here.”
Just as Cynthia was in trouble, Sean suddenly rushed up and grabbed her hand.
His palm was warm and strong, his eyes filled with determination.
“Don’t hold back at all. Release your flames freely.”
Cynthia was stunned for a moment, then the corners of her mouth slightly curved upward.
She felt the warm current from Sean’s mental soothing continuously flowing into her body. The magical power that had been restricted and cautious due to mental limitations now surged out like a bursting dam.
“Well done.”
A confident gleam flashed in Cynthia’s eyes as she firmly gripped Sean’s hand in return. At this moment, she no longer had any mental power limitations.
From then on, the Crimson Flame Witch unscrupulously expanded her magical sensing to the maximum, and in an instant, all magical flow within the entire cave was under her control.
At once, the mysterious figure could no longer hide in the darkness, and every movement was precisely captured by Cynthia.
“How… is this possible?!”
After being predicted and intercepted by Cynthia countless times, the mysterious figure couldn’t help but cry out in shock.
In his view, although Cynthia’s strength was considerable, she had already reached her upper limit due to the natural restriction of mental power and was no match for him, since he wasn’t bound by such limitations.
But after she made contact with that boy who had no magical power and whom he had initially dismissed, she seemed to become a different person. Both her magical intensity and control precision had improved by a level, and she seemed to have broken through her mental power limit with no restrictions whatsoever.
What exactly had happened?
Cynthia wouldn’t give the mysterious figure time to think. The battle continued, and with Sean’s enhancement, she gradually gained the upper hand.
Fire magic swept through like a storm, lighting up the dim cave like daylight and forcing the mysterious figure to retreat step by step.
The mysterious figure looked at the hands that Cynthia and Sean kept clasped together regardless of their movements, as if suddenly understanding something.
Could it be…
He stared at Sean with his crimson eyes, beginning to suspect this seemingly powerless boy.
At this point, the mysterious figure had no heart to continue fighting. He gathered magical power in both hands and cast a seemingly powerful spell.
Cynthia thought he was preparing to fight to the death, so she pulled Sean backward to increase distance. The result was that this black mist was just a smokescreen, and when the mist cleared, the mysterious figure had somehow disappeared without a trace, just as mysteriously as he had appeared.
Not knowing the opponent’s background or strength, Cynthia didn’t pursue rashly but breathed a sigh of relief. The tension that had been taut suddenly relaxed, and her whole body felt drained of strength, swaying involuntarily.
“Lady Cynthia, are you alright?”
Sean quickly supported her, asking with concern.
“I’m fine.”
Cynthia shook her head. She leaned against Sean and pointed to the teleportation circle she had come through.
“We shouldn’t stay here long. Let’s go back first.”
Sean nodded and helped Cynthia walk into the teleportation circle.
Their figures disappeared and reappeared in the basement of Mary’s house.
“Lady Cynthia, let me help you rest over there… uh…”
Sean had originally wanted to help Cynthia sit down somewhere to rest, but before he could take two steps, he was pushed down to the ground by Cynthia.
Before Sean could react, Cynthia had directly sat on top of him, pressing her hands on his chest to prevent him from getting up.
“Lady Cynthia, what are you trying to do?”
Sean asked somewhat rhetorically, knowing the answer.
“Sean, I need you, now, immediately, right away.”
Cynthia supported herself on Sean’s chest, her red hair falling down and brushing against his cheeks.
The Crimson Flame Saint looked at Sean with seductive eyes, her tone carrying a hint of urgency.
“Lady Cynthia, can’t you wait until we get back? This place isn’t very convenient…”
Sean was stunned for a moment, instinctively looking around.
“Stop talking and touch me.”
