Chapter 36
Chapter 36: The Messiah Saint’s Intimidation
“Lady Herarith, this won’t do.”
Sein suddenly grabbed Herarith’s slender wrist, the touch cold and delicate.
“Are you going to refuse me?”
Herarith’s golden pupils contracted sharply, the bright smile on her face instantly freezing. Her voice dropped eight octaves, carrying a dangerous tremor.
“If Lady Herarith insists on doing this, Lady Cynthia won’t let me off when she finds out.”
Sein slowly shook his head, his black hair gleaming with a deep blue luster under the moonlight.
His fingers unconsciously caressed the pulse on the inside of Herarith’s wrist, where the beating frequency was quickening—the mental soothing ability seemed to have taken effect.
“Heh… what was I thinking? I’m also a saint, I can completely protect you.”
Herarith suddenly laughed softly, her other hand stroking Sein’s cheek, her fingertips carrying a faint holy light.
“You don’t need to fear that madwoman Cynthia.”
“Not only that, my sister is studying at Messiah Academy as a recommended student from Lady Cynthia’s family.”
Sein slightly tilted his head, avoiding her cold fingertips.
“So there’s even a hostage… that woman Cynthia is quite clever.”
Herarith’s movement paused, her golden eyelashes trembling lightly.
She pondered for a moment, then suddenly leaned close to Sein’s ear, her warm breath spraying against his earlobe.
“But that’s not much of a problem for me—I can give your sister better conditions.”
“Lady Herarith and Lady Cynthia have been opposing each other for so long, yet neither can suppress the other. This shows that whether in individual strength or family power, you’re both evenly matched.”
Sein imperceptibly retreated half a step, his back pressing against the cold stone pillar, his voice terrifyingly calm.
“To trigger a full-scale conflict between two saints over someone ordinary like me would only result in mutual destruction. Is it worth it?”
“Sein, you don’t understand how precious your power is. This kind of mental force combined with a saint can allow the saint to evolve to the next stage.”
Herarith suddenly laughed softly, moonlight coating her delicate profile with a silver glow. Her fingertips lit up with holy light, tracing ancient runes in the air. The runes spun at her fingertips, forming a brilliant ring of light.
“According to ancient fragmentary records, a saint in that state would transcend all other saints, even those two Authority Saints.”
“So if Lady Herarith obtained me… what would you plan to do?”
Sein’s pupils contracted slightly—he hadn’t expected Herarith’s obsession to run so deep.
“Naturally, I would ‘combine’ with you, allowing me to evolve into that perfect form…”
Herarith’s red lips curved into an alluring arc.
She suddenly pressed close to Sein, her slender fingers sliding into his collar, her voice sweet as honey, as if it could melt anyone.
“Then I would be the strongest saint in all of Messiah.”
“Combine?”
Sein’s face instantly flushed red. He could feel Herarith’s cold fingertips wandering over his collarbone.
Was this seemingly holy Radiant Saint really so bold?
“Combining with someone like you sounds quite wonderful, but I’m sorry—I don’t agree.”
Sein suddenly grabbed her restless hand and shook his head, his voice firm as iron.
Herarith’s smile vanished instantly.
She suddenly erupted with an astonishing aura, her golden hair moving without wind, holy light flowing in her eyes.
“You think you have the right to choose? An ordinary person without magic power—even with a special ability like mental soothing, you wouldn’t have the slightest chance of resistance before me.”
This saint’s voice was cold as ice. Her slender, pale hand suddenly gripped Sein’s neck, pressing him directly against the wall with enough force to make him frown.
“I was being polite by negotiating with you nicely. If you anger me…”
Her nails gradually sank into Sein’s skin.
“I’ll keep you as a pet, using you only for pleasure every day. You’re just a tool—don’t get too cocky.”
Sein suddenly laughed—laughed abruptly while being choked, which made Herarith narrow her eyes.
“I think I certainly have the right to choose.”
He pulled a crystalline magic stone from his pocket, its deep blue luster gleaming under the moonlight. He lightly pressed the rune on the stone, and a light screen unfolded before them both.
This type of magic stone could record audio and video, functioning like a recorder.
In the image, Cynthia was straddling Sein, her red hair scattered like flames, her face wearing an intoxicated expression, with occasional moans coming through the screen.
From the angle, it was clearly filmed secretly from behind the two, clearly showing the pleasure the crimson saint displayed during mental soothing.
“I have no interest in watching that woman’s little videos. I didn’t expect you to have such perverted hobbies.”
Herarith frowned in disgust. Besides, she had already seen the live performance. Feeling like Sein was mocking her, her nails dug deeper, though she seemed to suddenly remember something and hastily added:
“I’m warning you—if you dare film videos when doing it with me, I’ll cut off your arms and legs, leaving only the most important part. I can move by myself from then on.”
“Lady Herarith, if you hadn’t seen the live performance and only watched this video, wouldn’t you think this was mental soothing?”
Sein suddenly interrupted her fantasies.
The saint was stunned for a moment, then unconsciously nodded.
The legends about mental soothing ability users had long circulated in the Light Cathedral. Any saint could recognize this special state at a glance.
“Before coming to the church, I placed another magic stone somewhere in the city.”
Sein’s smile widened, his voice light as a feather.
“If I can’t return on time tonight to retrieve it, it will project and broadcast this footage over Messiah when the time comes. I imagine everyone in Messiah will be able to see it then.”
Herarith’s pupils dilated instantly. She suddenly released Sein and staggered back two steps.
She knew the consequences all too well. If Sein made his ability public, the other saints definitely wouldn’t sit idle. A war between saints might even break out, and once the Authority Saints got involved, she definitely wouldn’t be the final victor.
“Also, I’d advise Lady Herarith not to think about forcing yourself on me now. If mental soothing isn’t mutually voluntary, it could very well backfire.”
Sein raised his hand to straighten his collar, his fingertips calmly smoothing every wrinkle. Moonlight slanted across his distinct profile, outlining a composed silhouette.
“You…!”
Herarith’s voice trembled for the first time.
“For Cynthia, you’d actually risk mutual destruction?”
“Hahahaha, Lady Herarith, what are you talking about…”
Sein couldn’t help but burst into laughter, the sound echoing in the empty church. The next second, his laughter stopped abruptly.
“I just don’t like being threatened.”
Sein stepped forward, and Herarith instinctively stepped back, until he smiled and extended a hand to this saint.
“So, Lady Radiant Saint, would you like to make a deal with me?”
